“Unique and relaxing!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012 via mobile

We just recently went to the stowehof for a fondue dinner. As we were walking In we were greated by a horse drawn slay-which we were very happily suppressed about! Every piece of beautiful furniter was unique, it made me think that I was entering a little dwarfs woodland hideaway!

The food service was amazing, they were very helpful in giving us recommendations. The fondue was to die for and we all had fun with it.

After our meal we sat by the fire. It was in a very homey area with books and a reading nook. One of the most memorable things was the real trees, with branches and everything, used as beams and arches in the stowehof. All and all our stay was very very amazing and we will definitely be back!

“A Warm and Rustic Oasis”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

My wife and I just returned from a two day midweek stay at the Stowehof and could not have been more pleased. From the moment of our arrival, until check out, every aspect of the inn was just what the doctor ordered. Those that seek the glitz and glitter of a super deluxe ski country sojourn should look elsewhere. The Stowehof is in a wonderful time warp, taking you back to an earlier era in Vermont ski country inns. The staff, from Bertha the head housekeeper, to Karen at the front desk, to the bartender in the pub, and to Curt in Emily's Restaurant, were all very friendly, unobtrusive, and helpful. The indoor pool and adjacent hot tub were just the right temperatures and provided the right mellowing out experience before drinks in the pub and an exquisite dinner by the fireplace in the dining room. The lobster bisque could not have been improved upon and the beef and shrimp fondue was so good I had it the next night. The wine list is excellent, heavy on France, and can be pricey, but there are also good values and a California zinfandel at $28.00 was delicious. Our room was sparely furnished, but had all the necessities, including two closets and two luggage racks. The enormous king size bed was extremely comfortable and all rooms have a flat screen TV and wi-fi. An afternoon sleigh ride with the personable Paul Ruta and his imposing and well trained Belgian horse, Doc, provided beautiful views of the countryside and afterwards, hot chocolate in the pub (yes, by a fireplace) was perfect. We will certainly go back and recommend it highly to anyone seeking real value and first class "country comfort" in Stowe.

“Weekend Retreat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

The Stowehof Inn is a retreat in itself. The location is away from the busy traffic but close enough to tour Stowe and walk the bike path. The food is amazing and the staff is kind. I have been coming to the Stowhof Inn with my mother who is from NH for 9 years and we will keep coming back.

Room Tip: The rooms on the second floor that have the dressing room are quite comfortable and spacious. A cou...

“8 years going to Stowehof”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

Our Church has been going to Stowehof Inn for 8 +years now. This will be my 7th year heading up our church's ladies retreat. I highly recommend it for a church retreat, business meetings or any group retreat/meeting. I have found that working with their event cordinator is easy and effective. All of the details for our retreat are handled professionally and carried out with precision. The months leading up to our retreat - the event cordinator keeps in touch to make sure everything we need is being done. The rooms are charming (each room is unique), the conference room is great for a group under 100 (plenty of hot tea, coffee and water) and we eat all our meals there (with an outstanding banquet on Saturday night). We have had the same chef for the last 3 years and we have had terrific meals. The chef accomodates many food challenges with our group. We have several diabetics, vegetarians, and one who is gluten/egg/dairy free. The facilities are such that we do not have to leave the building for the weekend if we do not want to. There is an exercise room, indoor pool and jacuzzi, great room with a fireplace and several nooks to play games or just visit. If you want to be outside there are hiking trails and you are so close to downtown Stowe. At the end of our retreats each year the ladies that attend ask that we book Stowehof for the following year - it is such an enjoyable weekend.
