“Christmas in Vermont”

We stayed at Ten Acres Lodge for a few days for Christmas 2011; we wanted a back to basics, old fashioned Christmas....none of the hustle and bustle and commercialization. One of our best Christmas' ever!! We visit Stowe at least once a year, and this was our 3rd or 4th time staying at Ten Acres Lodge. The room was better than pictured on the website. The Innkeepers,(Frank and Robin) have the hospitality that is lacking in a big hotel/spa and are simply amazing, you almost feel like you are part of their family. They have that personal touch that one doesn't get in a hotel. We have stayed in the Main Lodge, this time we stayed in the Hill House, as we had our Shetland Sheepdog with us, he was welcomed with open arms, and he too felt at home. The view from the outdoor hot tub is simply breathtaking. We had dinner one night in the restaurant at the Lodge, the food was excellent, and for breakfast, no one makes French toast like Frank. We have travelled the entire state of Vermont, Ten Acres is our favourite. We consider Stowe and Ten Acres Lodge our home away from home. We will definitely see you again soon.

“Great back in time hospitality & bed&breakfest!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

A+++ staff & a fantastic new Orleans style restaurant with a great chef that nails the seasoning of Cajun cooking spot on 4 stars.
Frank & his wife Robin are awesome innkeepers that tend to every request that you could want or need & they provide that old time hospitality that cannot be found in the more modern hotels
& resorts thank you to the whole staff for a wonderful vacation & definitely will return many times in the future... The Henseler Family

“Exactly what we hoped for”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 November 2011

Important trip! Fall colors and my wife's 60th b'day. The lodging meant everything, and I planned for days. Ten Acres Lodge was exactly what I had in mind, a rustic "escape", and favorably priced. An 1836 farmhouse-based inn oozing with charm, every single room pretty and unique (we booked two for the family--check out the inn's photos.) incredibly well-located in the gorgeous countryside--not another building in sight--but just a couple miles into town. An absolutely great hub from which to zip all over Vermont seeing the highlights. Our birthday celebration at the on-site restaurant, Lagniappe, included flowers and custom cake from Stowe merchants which I had arranged, and which Frank (owner) and staff handled perfectly. Point your camera in any direction here, inside or out, and you'll have keepsake photos nice enough for a magazine and your "forever" album.

Thanks for the kind words. I remember you well and am glad we were able to make a memorable experience for your family. It also shows me that the steps we have taken in recent months to make for a better stay are paying off. Thanks again for visiting and also for being such fun guests!

“It was like staying with friends”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 November 2011

This was our first experience at a Bed and Breakfast and we really enjoyed it. Frank and Robin were gracious hosts and great to get to know and chat with. It was so much more personal than staying in a hotel. The aromas from the restaurant in the main house beg you to have dinner there! We did indeed have dinner there our second night and it was incredible! Took us back to our trip to New Orleans! Frank's scrambled eggs a-la 007 are a must have! We may have to go back again to try their beignets! The room that we had was very spacious and clean. We have no complaints we would recommend this b&b to anyone.

Room Tip: Off peak all the rooms are quiet, front side have the best mountain views.

My wife and I have stayed here three years in a row. This December will be our fourth. Frank is very polite, their restaurant Lagnippe is delicious, and I can attest to a previous review of their French Toast - absolutely the best I've ever had. We've always stayed in the Hill House. We use the hot tub each year with no problems. I'm from FL; so, I don't get to see snow. Going in the hot tub after dark with a light snow fall is probably one of my most enjoyable experiences of all my vacations. Last year while taking a dip in the hot tub late at night, we heard rustling noises below (the hot tub is on the second floor). We looked over the edge and were delighted to see a couple deer and fawns. The location of the lodge with respect to the rest of Stowe is also very nice. It's away from the main road and very quiet. I would, and have, recommended this place to friends traveling near Stowe.
