We stayed in one of the townhouses, a group of six. After the shock of 80's flashback, you realized the place was fairly well maintained and clean. I did learn that some units have been updated but we got one of the older ones. While the property claims "ski-in, ski-out," it's a little misleading as you we did have a bit of a walk to the lift. I've stayed in ski-in, ski-out before and this is not it. To ski-in, there's an unmarked un-groomed trail with a very flat section. You are better taking the trail back down to the lift and hoofing it back to your townhouse.
The heating in our place was horrible. One minute hot, the next cold. The third bedroom is in the finished basement and although they were nice enough to include a 1970's space heater (really), it didn't do the job. This room was quickly dubbed the crypt by our group. It's a place to stowe the kids by not adults.
The TV got 4.5 channels and you watched that on the most uncomfortable 80's furniture ever made. After a long day of great skiing, it would have been nice to relax with a glass of wine and watch some TV or a movie before heading out for dinner. Not here.
Front desk people were very pleasant. Cleaning service was prompt and did a good job. Plenty of towels. They did remove all of the soaps, shampoos and lotions on the last day as if they were concerned that we would take everything. We received a ton of snow during our visit and each time, both the lots and walkways were promptly cleared. Take advantage of the morning breakfast. The apre-ski bar is only open on weekends, which makes sense.
It seems they take these flaws into consideration because it was reasonably priced. We will probably stay elsewhere the next time we visit. It wasn't clear if Stowe owned our unit or simple manages it. If it's the former, they would be wise to modernize it.
