We arrived at 4:30 on June 3rd to check into the Butternut Inn to find the place wide open with no one around except for another individual waiting to check in. He was visibly angry as he had been waiting 1.5 hours to check in and no one ever showed up. There was a wireless phone available and a number to call but the telephone was dead. We used our cell phone to call but no one answered and the voicemail box was full and thus we could not leave a message. We walked around to see if we could find anyone and past through the breakfast area to find open boxes of cereal, bowls filled with butter, jam, a container of milk left out on a table which had probably been there since breakfast. The inn itself was very dark, cluttered, and musty smelling and based on our experience I would definitely recommend that you stay elsewhere.
