“Excellent resort ans Spa”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012 via mobile

Loved the Spa and the swimming pool, Jacuzzi and outdoor pool and hot tub. The gym is gorgeous and the lounges are extremely elegant.
Service is very friendly and the make sure all the needs are satisfied.
Rooms are very clean and the beds are ver confy. I got 2 rooms, both with no decent view. The wallpaper is "old style".
The lounge, bar and fireplace are very nice. The game room is very ugly and cheap, it's the sore in thevye of this resort.
They offer a shuttle to the mountain.
Overall great hotel. I don't like the fact that patrons of the restaurant walk there in the hallways between the guests rooms!
Architecturally the hotel is not fancy except for the outside pools and restaurant area.

“Pretty Disappointing- Try a newer hotel”

Oh Topnotch, you have fallen behind in your quality. Only the Spa remains as the highlight!

Pros: near the cross country/sleigh facility, free fridge and rollaway in room,
Spa/lounge amenities are wonderful including several tea and water varieties, fireplaces in lounce areas, wonderful towels and good toiletries, shower setup which includes razor and full size products at the ready, and plush bathrobes. Good hot tub and lots of lounging chairs. Very accommodating and friendly front desk staff and bellhops. Free WII games in basement. Good workout rooms with lots of free weights and several cardio machines.

Cons: HORRIBLE BEDS!! The 'executive' room had 2 doubles which were so small my husband and i were falling off the "bouncy??" bed. so cramped we barely slept. Ate breakfast at Norma's, which has no atmosphere and about 15 tables crammed next to each other with a food lamp in plain view where the servers picked up their plates. My omelet was so dry and flavorless I considered sending it back and leaving. Limp greasy soggy homefries, and flavorless toast served with cold butter. Almost has a feel of a cafeteria inside...and for $18 with coffee??? yikes. Indoor pool was very cool, too cool for most adults to swim in. Hotel carpet has been there for many years and is worn, threadbare, and badly needs updating. Had to pay for pool table usage in game room (but Wii was free ?? figure that one out). Only one restaurant onsite (besides a "pub" which was filled with kids and a screaming infant the night we were there). When waterfall was on in hot tub area, you could barely hear yourself talk. Very weird and dangerous "ramp" on each level of the hotel in between rooms- you had to gingerly slide/baby step down several feet to continue! My 4 year old son fell down and I almost slipped while bringing luggage into the room. A hazard for any age!! Even an employee acknowledged they were going to redo these.

Sorry guys, you need to bring in a new chef, update the restaurant layout, redo the carpet, replace double beds with queens, and get rid of the ramps in between rooms. Save your money (of which they want alot) and stay somewhere else!!
We won't be back.

Room Tip: Choose a room with a King Bed!!! Request a refrigerator in the room.

“One of my favorite hotels in New England”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

I have visited Topnotch for the past two years in the winter (although I am sure it is just as beautiful, scenic and luxurious during all other seasons). I visited with my boyfriend and another couple and stayed in a three bedroom resort home both years. The resort homes are amazing and are a fantastic way to stay together. We were able to stay in and cook one day and went out for dinner the other night. We went skiing at Mount Mansfield one day and took the complimentary shuttles from Topnotch - they have vans or SUV's that you can call to pick you up at your room and they drop you off at the base of the mountain. When you're ready to leave you call and they're there in 10 minutes.

Overall the service at the resort is topnotch (pun intended). They have a fantastic crew who are at your every whim throughout your stay. The accommodations are luxurious and comfortable. The spa is one of the best in the country. The indoor and outdoor pools and hot tubs are open all year round. You can swim outside in the 85 degree pool while there's snow on the ground next to you. They are dog friendly and kid friendly. Norma's restaurant is delicious. Overall, I do not have one bad thing to say about the resort.

I plan to go back again next winter and am even looking forward to trying a spa weekend or a weekend of fall foliage for a different expereince

Room Tip: The resort homes are the way to go if you are traveling with the family or a group of friends.

“Only the Spa review -- did not stay @ hotel”

What a huge disappointment!!! I read that this Spa was voted to be "top 10 spas in US" and convinced our group of 4 adults and 5 kids to go there on December 31, 2011. I had a manicure which cost 50 dollars and was the worst manicure I've ever had - the manicurist (Abigail) clearly lacked experience as she had just received her license a month before. When you pay such top dollars, you expect a certain level of professionalism. Well.... Not with the Topnotch Spa. Stay away from that spa, as they clearly have a policy of hiring inexperienced staff and have the audacity to charge more than anyone else.

“Great Place for a family!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

We checked in on a Thursday in January at a resort home. The resort home was new, clean, and spacious for 4 adults and 4 kids under 3! As far as cleanliness goes, the housekeeping is kind of lacking. We had to call to get them out there, and when they came they did a subpar job.

Service is great, though we did run into a problem we have yet to run into anywhere. They ran out of bottled water on Saturday morning and were not getting a shipment in until Thursday! That's crazy! They should have went to the supermarket and bought cases.

We had room service delivered and it was great. Always on time and always hot. Had lunch at Norma's and it was great! Overall, I would reccomend this hotel!
