We booked the Golden Eagle Resort for the first time in 2009 as a last-minute weekend ski getaway. We booked it the second time, again, for a quick ski getaway. The Golden Eagle Resort served our purposes very well. Check-in was simple, even though we tend to arrive late. The rooms are spacious and simple. While not overly luxurious, there's room for all of your luggage and gear, and you never have to worry about getting something too precious all full of snow or mud because the rooms are clearly built for people who like to get outdoors That being said, every part of the room was clean and comfortable.
We especially liked the infared light in the bathroom. That was definitely welcome after a whole day of skiing on the cold, snowy mountain. In addition, while we booked one of the smallest rooms, there was still a fridge, a table, and a few chairs to sit on for those who don't like hanging out on their bed whenever they go back to their rooms.
The staff at the front desk is very friendly and full of advice about skiing and non-skiing attractions in the area. We got a great recommendation for an end-of-season ski sale happening in Stowe.
Finally, the breakfast could not be beat. It had wonderful, farm-fresh Vermont ingredients.
The only negatives I can think of is that first, as I've said, this is not a luxury resort, but rather a clean, extremely adequate place for people who like to get out and do things. Second, the rooms were a tiny bit drafty, but then again, that might also be the fault of Vermont weather.
