“great place for a road trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 March 2009

We stayed here on our road trip through Vermont and New Hampshire and had a great time. The weather was good, there were few other guests so we enjoyed the swimming pool. The girl behind the desk was friendly and gave us a good price; otherwise don't expect too much. The rooms are a little bit old-fashioned but in a good way: they're clean and in good condition and that's when I like outmoded furniture. You can sleep well here. There can be some noise from the street and from other guests I guess, but it was quiet when we stayed here. We wanted to go to the movies but the movie theatre was closed on this particular day and we couldn't get any information. If you're looking for sleepy provincial towns, go to St. Johnsbury. We liked it. What we didn't like was the Italian place across street from the motel, but if you go somewhere else, you'll probably have a great time passing through this picturesque town.

“Great Place!”

Not only was the room very clean, but the hostess and other employees were very friendly. They even gave out free microwaved popcorn (unlimited supply!) at night. They also recomended a restaurant for breakfast, which is only a few buildings down from the motel, was also excellent, the food/ service, atmosphere, everything. The outdoor pool also needs mentioning....we all, (us and other travellers there) couldn't get over what a beautiful temperature that pool is kept at! Wow! You could just walk right in without one shiver...it was so nice.

Also it was very easy to socialize, as outside the rooms were nice little chairs/tables, you could sit out at night or day, and chat with other visitors. Much nicer than those hotels where your basically sequestered to your room. I recomend this motel to families and oldsters, and motorcycle riders...Since it's a motel, you can pull your bike/vehicle up to your door and don't have to drag all your luggage through card key doors, hallways and staircases. I'm definately going to make a return visit to this motel.

  • Liked — Free popcorn, cozy room to sleep, fantastic pool, large grass yard to play, coffee in morning
  • Disliked — kick-out time came too soon

“Loved the Room, but not much else.”

I stayed at the Yankee Traveler Motel for two nights during Columbus day of this year. The only thing that was really great about the place was the room, as it was very spacious with three double beds, which fit our needs perfectly. I was surprised to find out that they had a room with three double beds because I have never been a motel with more than two beds in a single room.(As opposed to a suite). The room was decorated very nicely, fitting a classic colonial theme as opposed to the usual chain motel blandness. Other than that there is no continental breakfast, the pool was obviously closed so I can't comment on that, and I disliked the fact it was close to a busy road so there was a good deal of road noise all through the night. However the thing that I was really unhappy about was the price, as the room cost $150 which I found quite steep even though it was foliage season and we had such a large room. On a final note, it is within walking distance of many shops and the center of the town.

“Good place for a Night”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2007

I booked a night in this motel after reading the reviews. We paid $110 a night for a king. The girl behind the desk was friendly enough but just could not offer any information about places to eat, gift shops etc. She just seemed to be going through the motions. She pointed to the restaurant next door when we asked for a recommendation. She sent me to the Mobil station down the street for souveniers (I wanted to bring something to a friend that lived there in his youth).

We were very disappointed to find out upon check out that people who came in off the street paid $79 a night! It sure didn't pay to make a reservation and give them my credit card in advance.

No continental breakfast, although coffee and tea are offered most of the day. The room was fairly clean and the bed was comfortable.

  • Liked — Fairly Clean and Comfortable Bed
  • Disliked — The Knowledge of Front Desk Staff and Lack of Tourist Information about the Area

“Clean and Friendly”

My wife and I along with another couple stayed here last June while on a New England motorcycle trip . We enjoyed the swimming pool and the friendly outlook from the hostess. She allowed us to inspect the rooms before we committed to staying. The rooms were clean and pleasant. The continental breakfast was mediocre, but how good can that type of breakfast be? The value was average as the room was $75. Not expensive, but not budget-material either.
