“Wish we could've stayed here the whole trip!”

We arrived around 5 or 6pm after driving all day from New Hampshire and after a lot of sightseeing along the way were tired. I was traveling alone with my children ages 11 and 9 who were ready to burn some energy in the pool. When we arrived in St. Johnsbury I made a R at the fork instead of a L so we got lost but when I called the front desk lady was very courteous and helpful. She was the same woman I had spoke to a couple days prior to confirm our trip and make sure that part of VT was spared from Hurricane Irene before I took my children traipsing across flooded towns. I was greeted by name when we got there (since I had just called...) and it was a quick and easy check-in. We got to our room and it was gorgeous and so so clean! The pool area was equally pretty and clean. The pictures online truly don't do this place justice. We went to the grocery store and got dinner to bring back to the room. It was so comfy there we felt like being "home" after our long day. As I said the kids were anxious to get in the water so we had our dinner at one of the patio tables at the pool and then they jumped in!
There isn't breakfast here and there are no coffee pots in the rooms but the office does have coffee brewed. There is also tea and cocoa. The "breakfast" served at motels isn't the kind of food I give me kids so we don't eat there food most of the time anyway, so this was not a drawback for me.
This was our first trip to VT and I'm pretty sure we'll be back within a few years and I have every intention of staying at the Holiday Motel when we do!

“A really great place to stay”

My sister and I stayed here for 2 nights on a special vacation..we concentrated on small motels for our 2 week trip. This was one of the best..beds were great, room very clean and quiet. The manager, Ginny, was so helpful with recommendations for restaurants and sightseeing in the area. We would definitely stay here again. Rates are great. We have traveled all over U. S. and Europe and this was special for us.

Room Tip: Just ask the manager!

“Immaculate and roomy”

After staying in a number of more expensive motels that were "highly" rated, we did not expect a lot of this motel after the Fodor's comments. However, this was the first motel in our two week trip that had 2 firm queen beds, so much water pressure in the shower that it was like standing in a waterfall, and the place was immaculate. You could have eaten off the bathroom floors. Plus, they had bars of soap that weren't slivers, good toiletries and extra towels for 89 dollars. We actually tried to figure out a way to use this motel for the rest of our vacation. Loved it and would return in a heartbeat!

Thank you so much for writing a review on the Holiday Motel. We do have great beds and a few years back replaced some old water lines so we do have great showers, so important when traveling to have a good warm shower. Ginny

“Less than expected....”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2010

I just stayed at this hotel based on reviews and I was so disappointed.

The rooms were nice and if the hotel was reasonably priced, it wouldn't have been so bad. But for $140 USD per night, it was the biggest rip-off in all of my travelling days-- and I've travelled extensively.

I booked through Expedia and not only did they not honour the rate, but the continental breakfast that was supposed to be included didn't exist--just coffee, tea and juice.

We were only looking to stay one night while driving through New England but the town itself was a major mistake. The morning we left, there was an armed robbery just down the street from the hotel--- you get the picture! Not the beautiful, scenic Vermont that I am used to.

Think twice before you stay here! Believe me, you can do better!

So sorry that you were disappointed with your stay at The Holiday Motel.
Your rate was on the higher side as you were traveling in our busiest season, people love Vermont when the leaves are showing all those beautiful colors.
I have been trying to get Expedia to update my information. We have not had a continental breakfast for a while but I'm not sure what I have to do to get this information correct.
I'm not sure what the break in was but St. Johnsbury is a great, usually a very quiet town. I guess where ever one goes there can be unfortunate things happen in todays world.
We do appreciate all of our customers and try to go the extra distance to give Signature Service.

“Nice little motel, quiet with friendly staff.”

We stayed one night just traveling through. The check in was quick, and the lady was very friendly and helpful with suggestions for nearby places to eat. The rooms were dated but clean and comfortable.
