“Great Inexpensive Ski Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 June 2011

I needed 2 nights to sleep while I went skiing at Killington.
I booked this rodeay for about $40/night at the very end of March.
The hotel is extremely basic and you enter the rooms from outside.
I booked the cheapest room possible and it was rather small. The rooms have definetely been refurbished, and are furnished nice. The bathroom was very small and appeared to be original tub, sink, toilet, and ugly tile.
Bathroom definetely showed wear but that didnt bother me at all.
The other downside is thin walls. I overheard a lesbian lovers quarrel one morning at 7AM. I really cant complain it was more interesting than the TV show I was watching.
This hotel served its purpose for me as it was inexpensive and fairly close to Killington.
If you are looking for an inexpensive crash pad this is more than suitable.

“Stay anywhere else!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2011

First they gave me a room with a bed that slanted down to the ground.  That was room 119.  Then the guy at the front desk told me that I was the first person to ever complain about the bed.  He said that every week he has people request that room every week.  By the looks of this dump, anyone who comes here every week probably doesn't notice the bed.  The they guy moved me to room 127.  The hallway to get to this room stunk of cigarette and pot smoke and the room itself smelled like someone had sprayed air freshened from 1987 in it...way too chemical and perfume-y.  Finally I just sucked it up and checked out, didn't even try to get them to refund my $40, and moved to the Best Western up the road.  To give this Rodeway Inn even one star is being generous.

“Dirty old place”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 July 2010

We stayed here one night recently to attend a concert with family from the Rutland area.. Apparently this was up until recently a Rodeway Inn.

While we looked for the best price we could get, we ended up at this America;s Best Value Inn as most hotels were booked solid.

The rooms are old and musty. The air conditioner was a hunk of junk hanging in the window, that sounded like it was on its final journey. The bedding was definitely old and worn. We were extremely unhappy with this stay and wont stay again.

The price we paid was much more than it should be for such a rundown place. To describe this place in a word, it would have to be ..disgusting.

“Onlly OK for a overnight...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2008

Hotel was very basic. We stayed two nights and were looking for a bargain due to making several trips to Rutland this year. The Rodeway Inn was more of a $50/night type "motel" - we paid more...

CONS: First night (actually first morning), shower didn't drain well, hot water was only mildly hot. Management did fix next day but that doesn't help when you are standing naked in four inches of water! Sheets were not fitted to bed so that they stayed in place overnight. Room was circa 1960's. Continental breakfast was minimal (waffles, toast, juice coffee). You are much better off going to the Midway Diner about a mile away on Route 7.

PROS: Was the cheapest in the area (but I still think over-priced). Room was clean (although sparse). Staff seemed very friendly and accommodating. I did like the hot water heat system. I hate those hotel rooms that have the wall unit that runs all night with a fan and makes the room real dry. Location was good - on main routes.

All-in-all it served its purpose, although, I am still trying to find accommodations in Rutland more suited to my stays. I will try someplace else.

PS Just before leaving this review, I found out the Rodeway Inn is for sale.

“Good place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 March 2008

We really liked this place. The hotel was clean, the staff friendly, and the room tidy. We had plenty of hot water, and our very own thermostat - so on those cold Vermont nights we were able to sleep very comfortably.

This motel is only 7 miles from Killington, which made its location highly desirable. They serve a modest waffle for breakfast - which we supplemented with our own yogurt and bananas. The rooms had a small refrigerator - we made our own sandwiches. (One of our rooms also had a microwave.)

We were just looking for a decent/basic place to stay for a few days. This place was just fine for that - between skiing and our evening activities, we really did not spend much time at the hotel. It was merely a place to sleep. We cared more about "being there" than about every creature comfort (having said that we were very comfortable!).

Rutland also lends itself to dining more reasonably...we spent $50 for four people on breakfast at Sugar and Spice (Mendon, VT), on the way to Killington. Ouch. In Rutland, on other hand, Ramunto's Pizza was very good and affordable. The next night we went to Little Harry's for dinner and was also satisfied.
