I had originally reserved a room at the Comfort Inn Trolley Square, just up the street, for two nights but switched to the Ramada Limited because I was able to get a much better rate through my membership with Kentucky Farm Bureau. At an average of $48 per night, I was willing to put up with a room that might not be as nice as what the Comfort Inn might have provided to save a few dollars.
Interesting setup for the first-floor rooms. They do have doors that open to the parking lot, but they're billed as "emergency exits" and you can't get into the rooms from the outside. You can open the door and leave it open to bring stuff in out of your car, but you have to go through the interior hall and through a common door if you are leaving.
The property is older, no question, but it was adequately clean. My room had one queen bed with a recliner, table and chair, and a microwave and fridge. I was a bit apprehensive that the fridge wasn't plugged in when I got there, but when I plugged it in it came on and I was able to keep my pop cold. The wi-fi internet worked well. Bed was comfortable and the heater worked pretty well and wasn't terribly noisy. Poor water pressure in the shower, however. Breakfast was unimpressive -- mostly bagels and toast and a waffle maker. They had signs saying not to take breakfast items back to the room. Huh? You can have a pizza delivered to your room, bring fast food back, or heat something up in the microwave, but can't take a muffin or a doughnut back to your room? That makes no sense. I also noticed the indoor pool was closed up. And the ice machine was on the second floor. The motel has a decent location on US 7 and is near restaurants and shopping. Rutland has one of Vermont's four Walmarts, just a few miles away in the downtown area, and there are other options as well if you need something. I ate at the Ponderosa Steakhouse both nights and they have decent food.
Two things to note from some previous reviews. You can hear activity on the second floor above. I even heard someone's cell phone vibrating when it rang. But they must have turned in fairly early because it didn't disturb me when I slept. I also did not see any of the long-term residents that others mentioned. There weren't that many patrons at the motel the two nights I was there.
All in all, I would probably stay there again if ever back in Rutland, especially if I could get the same rate.
