“Nice Stay in Rutland”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 October 2011

We had a nice stay in Rutland. The area may seem not so nice but the hotel itself is very nice. We stayed in a room with 2 queen size beds - plenty of room for 2 teens and 2 adults. Bathroom was a little small and we had to request another set of towels. Room was clean and modern. Breakfast was good - waffles and other continental stuff. Staff was friendly and the price was fantastic. We had an event to attend at Killington Mountain so this was an easy and reasonable place to stay. Look forward to our next stay.

Thank you so much for the kind review. We strive to have all our guests have a positve visit with us. Although our hotel is not brand new, as you stated, it is very clean and has received high scores from Choice Hotels during our yearly inspections. We are know as "The Friendliest Hotel in Rutland", as our staff is commited to helping all our guests have a great time while in Vermont. Thank you again, and we look forward to your return. Have a safe and happy holiday season.

“Great Value in Rutland”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2011

We stayed at this hotel because it was more than half the price of the nearby Hampton Inn and Holiday Inn. Allen Street is accross the Vermont State Fair Grounds off Route 4, but there is a "back entrance" near South Station Steakhouse and CJ's Suds South.

The rooms are clean, but not "new". The bathrooms are compact and a little on the older side and they have a weird configuration that makes it tough to open, due to a shower wall near the sink. There is no thermostat and A/C comes from a weak unit below the window, it worked fine, but was a little noisy. There were small digital alarm clocks and the new flat screen TVs were very nice. There is always coffee and tea available near the hotel entrance and there is a continental breakfast buffet on the 3rd floor which was acceptable, ESPECIALLY given the very affordordable price of the rooms.
The pool is right off the lobby and has a whirlpool and some chairs, but the only lobby bathrooms are in the pool area. The pool clean, but definitely older and could use a little freshening up and maybe some echo absorbers. We talked to the front desk several times and they were always amicable and helpful, but I'm not sure I would say they were overly friendly.

The one "bad" thing I would say is that parking seems minimal, because they share a parking with South Street Restaurant and some business, but even though the hotel was sold out, there were still spots available in their back lot.

Given the price, I would say this is a VERY good value in an overpriced market.

“affordable, clean, comfortable hotel in Rutland”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 September 2011

pros: clean, good sized rooms, good comfy beds, good breakfast,

cons: receptionist didn't seem too bothered with visiting guests, indoor pool too cold, jacuzzi too hot

We'd stay here again, as the price/value ratio was really good.

Room Tip: stay away from rooms facing the road

“"Shines even during natural disaster"”

We pulled in at 12:30 in the morning after 2 hours of Vermont detours caused by hurricane Irene. The parking lot was full. We didn't hold much hope for normality. But, the reservations were honored, the room was what was promised, the staff was pleasantly accommodating. The breakfast, which by the way, is make your own waffles, hardboiled eggs, cereal selection, wicked good coffee, rolls, bagels, juice, milk, fresh fruit, was business as usual. They had notes asking we conserve water and not flush toilets too much because of the area flooding. They made a great effort to keep "business as usual'. Kudos to them. This was the second time we stayed there. We feel it is a great deal. Always clean, great breakfast, staff always "Vermont friendly".
