“Hospitality Reigns at Grey Gables”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 September 2008

The Grey Gables was delightful. Tim and Debbie, the proprietors, were so helpful and welcoming, knowing just when to do every little thing. Our room in the front of the house was cozy and perfect for our visit to Northwestern Vermont. Our bed slept comfortably, and we had a private bath. For an old house, it was not drafty. We didn't feel the freeze outside on our first night. The park across the street was ideal for a sunset picnic, and the breakfasts each morning were tasty and piping hot. We were conveniently located to many of the area attractions and only 2 miles from the Canadian border. Oh, and Heinz was the best!

  • Liked — The convenient location
  • Disliked — The sink in our room was small.

“Home away from home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 April 2008

The house was a sight for sore eyes the moment we arrived. Tim and Debbie gave us a wonderful welcome and their enthusiasm for their historic home is contagious! Our ski day at Jay turned out to be a bust of an icestorm, but this still made a great place to come back to no matter what howling weather came our way. And homemade breakfasts were wonderful!

“Charming, classic b & b experience in Vermont”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 December 2007

What a wonderful place to stay. Grey Gables was a good base for our ski-trips to Jay-Peak, a 30 minute drive through a snowy winter wonderland. Delicious breakfasts, charming decor, gorgeous mansion, comfy bed, incredible hospitality and friendliness from the owners Debbie and Tim. Highly recommended.

“Grey Gables Mansion - A Home Away From Home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 February 2006

My sister and I have just returned from a 4-day stay at the Grey Gables Mansion. What a wonderful experience!

When we arrived at the Mansion we were warmly welcomed by Tim, Debbie and Heinzie (the resident tail wagger). From the moment we stepped into the Mansion we felt comfortable and relaxed. The Mansion is very beautiful. You can just close your eyes and imagine being back in the 19th century. The room we had was large and spotless. The breakfast served each day was excellent. I particulary loved the apple walnut pancakes that Tim prepared. What a chef!

Tim and Debbie were very helpful in giving directions to the areas we wanted to see. Also they gave great tips they discovered themselves - antique stores and shops in several surrounding villages.

Grace and I sat downstairs in the Library with Tim and Heinzie - watching a great movie on the Sunday night we were there. That there was blazing fire to keep us toasty just added to the pleasure of the experience.

The adventure of visting and staying in the small town of Richford was everything we expected and more.

We went shopping and dining in Sutton a lively border town in Quebec, Canada just 10 minutes away from the Mansion.

We can't wait to return to visit again in each season. It's the best of all worlds.

When you visit, make sure to give a big hug to Heinzie (or Heinz as his is more formally known). He is the sweet, loving pup that welcomes you each time you come and go at the Mansion. He is reason enough to return!
