“Heart breaking”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

We stay here every year for family vacation and good skiing. The reason we love it here is the staff. Artie is the best, he wears many hats , always greets you by name and you can tell he genuinly loves it here. We did notice some turn over in staff. And also amenities. lotion in the activities building used to be nice, also the robes in the rooms used to be great when you get out of the pool, The pool towels are small and thin . When the economy calls for cutting back you just need to be careful . The green mountain coffee and cocoa in the gear shed , lobby needed sprucing up and the property has become dated. We love the staff and will continue to vacation here.. Just needs some capital spending.

“We were unimpressed”

We were very excited to go to Hawk for a foliage anniversary trip. Their website looked fantastic. We also wanted to go to VT to help them to recover after the floods. So we booked a package with Hawk. The staff is unimpressive. They were not very enthusiastic when we checked in and did not really explain what was damaged by the flood like for instance that the spa is flooded and the game room so that our massages were now going to be in a hotel room. That is fine, but explain it, maybe apologize for it, do something. We dined in the tavern and were charged a different amount from what we wrote on the receipt to be charged to the room by 67.00! They corrected it once we questioned it though. luckily we did question it. The pool, is really nice. The facilities are dated. The bedding, wallpaper, hallways all are outdated. The food was really good though and all in all a good experience just wish they would update their facility and their staff.

“Quaint Vermont Inn”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

We stumbled onto Hawk when we couldn't get into our normal lodging over at Jackson Gore who was booked. The price on Hawk is much less than the hotels directly on the ski mountains, but you are also a 15 minute drive away from the mountain (Okemo). The room we stayed in was small for the 4 of us, but we managed just fine. What's so great about Hawk is all that they have to offer: snow-showing, iceskating, indoor/outdoor pool to name just a few of the extras. Normally we only ski when we head to VT so it was fun to try out some new things.
The rooms are definitely outdated but I guess that's common for Vermont Inns. The bedding should be updated, and the mattresses as well. If it weren't for the beds I would definitely give this a higher rating.
The restaurant was good. We had dinner there one night and we all loved what we ate. The included breakfast is good too, with all standard breakfast fare.

“Did not live up to expectations or website”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 August 2011

We stayed in a condo in the "ledges" which was very big and super clean - that was the best part of our 3 night stay. The pool area is nice, but seems much more geared towards adults than children, and we got dirty looks from a man who was reading a book by the pool any time my son so much as splashed or made even a moderate level of noise. The other "activities" on the main property are minimalist at best (the "playground" is a somewhat tired swing set, and there is no horse back riding as advertised (we drove an hour away to a place that was great for that), they do not have any bicycles with a child's seat, so we could not go on a family bike ride. We did not have the opportunity to drive down the road to try the canoes or the water trampoline; which seem like they would have been fun. I am saving the worst for last ... the food at the restaurant was HORRIBLE, to the point of being inedible. On our 2nd night there, we ordered "take out" and brought it back to our condo. We ordered 2 NY strip steak dinners - what we received did not resemble a NY strip, and it tasted like it had been in the freezer for about a year - we were charged over $80 for this inferior quality food - which was completely outrageous. We were too tired and disgusted to complain that night, but we did mention it on our survey and upon checking out, and it was clear that the person behind the desk could not have cared less. It seems this place is primarily used for wedding functions, and does a half-way job at trying to appeal to families. This place would be fine for adults looking for a tranquil get-away who don't mind doing their own cooking, or driving to Ludlow or Killington for a decent meal.

“Didn't meet my expectations from what was listed on the website.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 March 2011

For the amount of money I paid for a "luxury room" my stay was not worth it. There was a breakfast included both mornings I was there that was bad in both quality and taste, the pancakes were cold on saturday and sunday my omlette looked like scrambled eggs and the toast was cold. The coffee tasted like water. Another accomodation listed on the hotel website was "unlimited dvd rentals" by that they mean two shelves of dvd/vhs's that are at least 10 years old. The luxury room was also suppose to include a whirlpool for two, but due to the cleanliness of the whirlpool tub we couldnt use it. There's also suppose to be a "wet bar" included, there wasnt one thing in our fridge.....not even bottled water. The pool was the best part of the resort and even that could use some tlc. The amount of money they charge for their rooms isnt worth the quality of the room. Also they said there's a library, by that they mean a side room with a couch, basically my main complaint is that they try to make it seem like more than it is.

Thank you for sharing your experiences with us. We regret that your visit with us did not meet your expectations. I have passed on your comments to our Restaurant Manager regarding your shortfalls during breakfast. Our return guests look forward to having breakfast at Hawk. Appropriate steps will be taken to ensure consistent quality with our breakfast. In reference to our DVD/Video rentals, we currently have over 250 titles to choose from including new releases and older titles. We set the bar high for cleanliness in our Inn rooms and throughout the Resort. I wish you had called the Front Desk so we could have had the opportunity to take care of your concerns. I am happy that you enjoyed our heated pools. Although most of our guests enjoy relaxing and catching up with their families in the Library, it was not a good experience for you. Again, thank you for your feedback. It helps us to improve the experience for all guests. We hope you will try us again for a future visit.
