“Lakeshore classic offering delicious food and warm, friendly service”

North Hero House offers a New Year's celebration that is delightful; excellent food, great service and picture postcard Vermont lakefront architecture. If you want to be away from it all ask to stay in the lakefront buildings or stay right in the inn so that you can run downstairs in your pajamas for your first cup of coffee. In the summertime don't miss the Pier Bar. Definitely a "must stay" location in the Champlain Islands.

“Beautiful Inn, Delicious Breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

After being caught in a snowstorm on our way from Waterbury, our arrival at the North Hero House was very welcome. The inn is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. My favorite touch was the selection of DVDs (some very recent ones!) available to borrow from the inn. I'm not actually sure if the TV had a DVD player, but we had a laptop with us. The breakfast was delicious and is served in a sunny room looking out on the water. There were only 6 guests staying at the inn so it was very quiet. In the winter there isn't much going on in North Hero as far as we could tell and a limited selection of restaurants (apart from at the inn itself, and we were too late for the dinner), but we journeyed to a vineyard on South Hero which we recommend.

Room Tip: The stairs up to the 3rd floor are quite narrow and may not be suitable for guests with impaired mob...

this place was in the most beautiful location on the edge of Lake Champlain. The food was absolutely delicious and we enjoyed the whole time there. The beds were really comfortable and the staff really helpful. would definitely recommend it.

“Wonderful food, brilliant location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 October 2011

Enjoyed dinner for 16 with my colleagues and our spouses on a beautiful Fall evening. The location on the shore of Lake Champlain in a classic Vermont village is picture-postcard-esque. The staff was welcoming and very pleasant and completely able to handle our large group (we had reservations in advance) amidst a flurry of Friday night in foliage season - and we even saw a seemingly larger group arrive and disappear into another of the restaurant's rooms. North Hero House features farm-fresh produce, locally grown beef, and Maine seafood. I enjoyed a bite of calamari appetizer and then the Brick Pressed Misty Knolls Farm Chicken Breast with pancetta sage pan sauce, mashed potatos, haricot verts, and baby carrots. Wonderfully cooked, artistically plated, delightfully served. All in an atmosphere conducive to enjoying one another? There's the recipe for a delicious evening.

“Scenic, clean and restful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2011 via mobile

Stayed here for their midweek special in the cove house right on Lake Champlain. We sat on the screened porch overlooking the mountains of Vermont beyond the beautiful lake. Birds, geese and ducks dotted the sky and water. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. There is not a lot to do nearby...walk to the general store and meals at thhe North Hero House restaurant across the street, which by the way were excellent. Wifi in the room was spotty and sound from cars going by on route 2 rather noticable...but never constant. Great find..highly recommend for down time.
