I was visiting Vermont for the first (let alone Newfane) but the minute we drove up to The Four Columns Inn someone should've yelled "cue the bunnies!" It was something out of a Rockwell painting or like the opening credits on the old Newhart Show from years back!
At the reservations desk you enter the main "house" complete with a dinning room with wonderful cooking and a lovely continental breakfast every morning that is sure to start your snowy day off right. There's also a lovely sitting room with a warming fireplace to take the chill off.
Our room was in the building with the "four columns" out front. A spacious, warm, full-of-light modern room with a gas fireplace in the middle of the room that allowed you to see through to the bathroom. And what a bathroom it was!!! Two pedestal sinks and a huge jacuzzi tub and large separate shower.
What put this place over the top for me were the "nicer than nice" owners who graciously saw to our every request. See, we were there for a small wedding with 14 people and the whole thing took place at the Inn... from the ceremony in the front sitting room to the cocktail hour and delicious dinner in the back room. It was a magical weekend and the perfect romantic place for a wedding let alone a winter wonderland stay. I wish we had seen more of the town but if you're going to be tied up at a B&B all weekend, this is the one you want to be at!! :)
