“Great Place to Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 July 2008

My husband and I were celebrating our 6th anniversary and we stopped by Rolands for the night on our way to Maine.

We got to Rolands rather late but we still had time to eat dinner. The dinner was awesome.

Rolands was a very quiet place. The rooms were a very nice size and very comfortable.

Roland had our table set and waiting for us for breakfast. My husband and I were the only people staying at the inn that night. Roland fixed the best breakfast my husband or I had ever had.

I would recommend Rolands to everyone.

  • Liked — It was very quiet, the food was excellent and it was a pretty location
  • Disliked — Nothing

“A charming B&B, and a fantastic restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 December 2007

I am not a huge fan of B&B's, but Roland's is quite a gem. The rooms are clean, well furnished, and full of charm. The owners are delightful folks. Lisa will always make you feel welcome.

It's a couple miles north of Middlebury on Route 7, but it's set well off the road, with hundreds of acres of fields behind it.

Regarding food... I live in Vermont, and this is some of the best food you will find in the area. Roland is a true gourmet chef, although the prices are pleasantly affordable.

  • Liked — Charming atmoshere and great food.
  • Disliked — Not crazy about B&B's.

“Roland's Place is the place to stay”

My husband is attending the Language school at Middlebury so we went up a little early and stayed in the area for one night at Roland's and it was our first time at a bed and breakfast and so we weren't sure what it would be like at all. I've stayed at many commercial hotels up till now and this was definitely a nice change of pace. We stayed in the Green room and it was one of the most romantic stays we've had at a hotel. Besides being tastefully decorated, the room also had a very nice jacuzzy (so bring the bubble bath if you book this room). The bed was very comfortable and the room was very clean. We felt as though we had been transformed back to an elegant time in France because the decor was so elegant and beautifully put together.

A full breakfast was served in the morning with a cheese omelet, bacon, potatoes, and bread as well as coffee, OJ, and water. And we had a delightful time with our fellow guests. So we definitely recommend the bed and breakfast experience in general and heartily recommond Roland's place. It's romantic, chic and has wonderful service. I can't comment on the restaurant because it wasn't open on the night we stayed there but I imagine that it's just as wonderful as the bed and breakfast. The pictures on the website are very accurate so I would go there for a visual of the rooms.
