“If you don't get a renovated room - AVOID at all cost”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 March 2010

We stayed in this motel for 2 nights for a ski trip.
Location is great - close to Killington and Pico.
We were first given an old, not-renovated room at the back - it's awful, disgusting, dark, cold and smell. First, owner acted "surprised" that we didn't like the room and the fact that there was no heat in the bathroom (in February). But, then he changed his attitude, brought additional heater and next day moved us to a renovated room in the front. That room was much better in comparison, like normal, basic room in motel.
Breakfast - included, very simple, won't eat it for more than 2 days, but very convenient before going skiing.
Very nice common room with fireplace, flat screen TV, music - spend all free time there.
I would say this motel is best suited for young people/groups for skiing than for families.

“Wouldn't recommend”

We stayed here for a ski weekend. After reading all the great reviews I was excited to stay here. Unfortunately we did not receive one of the renovated "lodge" rooms that we requested and ended up in the motel rooms. I am sure that the lodge rooms are nice and clean, the motel rooms are disgusting! Dirty, old, smells, and it was LOUD. Unless you are guaranteed a lodge room, I would NOT stay here. It is not worth the money - we will not be staying again.

Well...what do you say to a bad review? First, the guest only stayed one night and not the weekend. She booked a queen room for four people and one bed. I furnished an additional bed in the room at our expense and not her request. Also, she was entitled to four hot breakfasts in the morning. Great value! Some of the Lodge has not yet been renovated as she stated. However, we pride ourselves with clean rooms and great service. If you read deeper you will find this is her first review on TripAdvisor. Good luck to anyone she stays with!

“Like staying with freinds”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 February 2010

Had a great stay, close enough to everything, but just far away enough to offer savings for the value. Nice to see an owner that really enjoys what he does. Will always check here first when returning to killington/Pico.

“Great value for a ski trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2010

Our family of five stayed at the Edelweiss Motel for 7 nights and spent most of our days skiing Killington and Pico. This place is an excellent value: comfortable, friendly, and extremely well located for skiing. But it's no-frills and it's not perfect, and it's probably not for everyone.

Pros:
1. Location - You can see Pico's ski runs from the motel, and the Killington access road is just 10 minutes away.
2. Price - We got an early booking discount and paid about $130 a night for our entire family during the week from Christmas to New Year's. You just can't beat that.
3. Clean, good-sized, comfortable rooms.
4. Friendly management - The owner is a really nice guy.
5. Very pleasant common room and recreation room, with free pool and shuffleboard tables, drinks and light fare available in the evening.
6. Breakfast included.
7. Minor problems (burnt-out lightbulb, dirty blanket) handled quickly.
8. Excellent maid service.

Cons:
1. Thin walls. You can really hear what's going on next door.
2. Water temperature in the shower fluctuates. The shower is decent (with water-saver showerhead), but god help you if someone next door flushes the toilet. The water becomes so hot that I'd be concerned about leaving a young child alone in the shower.
3. Breakfast is included but is extremely limited. We were served an uninspired cheese omelette and/or french toast every morning with OJ and coffee. There is no buffet with fruit, cereal, yogurt, bagels, hot chocolate, etc. as you might expect. After a few days we started having breakfast out - but then again, at the price we were paying for the room, we could afford to.
4. There's a pleasant hot tub which guests are free to use, but it's in an unheated building across the parking lot from the motel.
5. Too few pillows and too small blankets.
