“Not your typical Econo Lodge and a Great Price to Boot”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

Located just down the road from the Pico ski area and just a little further away fom Killington this must have been a small inn in a previous life. There are only 30 rooms, two floors, no elevator. The front lobby boasts a stone fireplace, seating area and local newspapers. Downstairs is another seating area with fireplace and the breakfast seating. Beyond that is the game room which has a pool table, ping-pong and pinball machines (extra charge) and beyond that a 2 person whirlpool. On the second floor is yet another seating area with library. Our room had 2 beds, table and two chairs, plenty of lighting, refrigerator (2 microwaves are available for use by guests), coffee maker, large vanity and tub/shower and toilet in a small bathroom. There was a safe, 27" tv, rack to hang clothes and hooks for ski jackets and pants, etc. On a Sunday night in high season we paid $70 for 2 w/taxes. Breakfast was continental, coffee, tea, hot cocoa, oj, toast, bagels, store bought donuts and coffee cake. This place is a real bargain and very clean. Would recommend and stay there again. Our night for 2 was less than the cost of a daily lift ticket at Killington ($79) but we had discounts and only paid $50 each.

Room Tip: second floor as the floor boards do squeak

“Spooky!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2011

I don't normally leave remarks about places I've stayed (good or bad) but my experience here was very spooky so I wanted to pass it along. My wife and I stayed in room 216 and while we were in bed watching TV that night we both saw the bedspread on the other bed move up a couple inches and form a crease on top of the bed. My wife hates vermin so I pulled the comforter and sheets off the bed to investigate but found nothing. Later we were watching FOXnews and heard giggling, like a little girl - from inside our room. The report on TV at the time was about the downed drone in Iran so we couldn't account for the giggling.

We ordered some dinner and forgot all about this, fell asleep, and when I woke up the chair in the room was sitting on the table.

Very chilling.

I waited for my wife to wake up and ask her if she'd put it there during the night and she looked at me like I had two heads.

I spoke to the kid at the front desk and he told us that there are, from time to time, ghost sightings and experiences like the one we had. So I wanted to pass that along to my fellow road warriors and skiers.

Aside from that the hotel was actually a pleasant surprise. The beds were comfortable (although haunted), the hot water was always there, the staff was incredibly pleasant, helpful and even funny. I've seen some reviews on here about how bad the breakfast was but my wife and I thought it was more than good for it being an econolodge. Homemade coffee cake and really good coffee.

We'll be back, but will request to be put in a different room.
I really do believe we had an inexplicable occurrence there.

Room Tip: Don't pick 216 if you want to sleep!

“Fantastic location, quality and value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 November 2011

We loved our stay here! We had a wonderful foliage stay there this year. We were worried after Hurricane Irene but saw little damage that wasn't already fixed and this place was totally unaffected.

The innkeeper and staff are so nice and gave us lots of tips on foliage drives, where to eat and what to do locally. Only a few hours from NY and yet a world away. As for the hotel itself, the rooms are so comfortable, modern, charming and very clean, plus there are so many nice touches (like the gorgeous grounds and good coffee).

We are frequent VT visitors and the most amazing thing is how affordable this place is compared to hotels nearby and how much nicer it was staying there. We will be back and already made a 3 day ski weekend reservation (Killington is almost around the corner!)

“Great Vermont Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2011

We stayed at this hotel last week and are regular guests who stay here whenever we hike, bike, and ski in Vermont. We've noticed that they have made some upgrades to the property. The rooms with queen beds have updated baths with new vanities, fixtures and tile. New bedspreads and refrigerators were apparent in our room as well. We were told that the property was originally built as a seasonal ski lodge, which explains the two fireplaces, hot tub, game and lounge room, and larger guest rooms. Bathrooms are somewhat small with a vanity outside the main section, which is great for two people getting ready for the day. The continental breakfast is basic, but is fresh and nicely presented. If you want more, I suggest the Sugar and Spice pancake house right down the road. We go there every time we visit. Almost everything is home made including their own maple syrup. A true Vermont experience. We are definitely looking into having a family reunion here next summer.

“Facility needs a new face lift.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 October 2011

Our recent stay was ok. Location is wonderful, lots of potential. Facillities were below average, they are in drastic need of a new face lift. Beds were creeky, along with the floors upstairs and down. Breakfast was average, consisting of toast, muffins and rolls. On the plus side front desk personnel were very friendly which made check in and check out pleasant. My overall review is the scenery and location were the biggest plus, the hotel itself needs a huge makeover.
