“family fun”

We came because my brother's family recommended it. We keep going back because it offers a way to keep everyone in our family happy from age 6-80. And that isn't easy!
Obviously the view is the best part, but...
Burke Mountain is about 10 mins away for skiing and there are miles of XC trails, but my kids like the wide sledding hill, which is lit at night. They cannot get enough of that. Even the 18 year old. The restaurant feeds them a kid friendly meal and then the adults eat a very nice, peaceful meal while the kids are happily occupied with a movie, games or sledding. I am at ease letting them cross the street or sled alone because the inn feels so safe. This year clear nights revealed stars spangled skies and shooting stars for young sledders.
The innkeepers homeschooled 8 kids so they know family. Petting zoo, sleigh ride, snow shoe, spa. Something for everyone.
It is a clean and comfortable, kid friendly, dog friendly Vermont Inn. Some of the reviews seem shocked that it isn't a Hilton with gleaming marble everywhere. If the pictures on the wall are more important to you that the views out the window stay in the city.

Room Tip: A familygroup of 6 or 7 could take over the whole upstairs of the inn making it feel like your own h...

“Excellent, quintessential Vermont country inn”

Our family has spent several Christamses now at the Wildflower and have been nothing less than perfectly happy and satisfied with our room, the food and service and the entire inn and the owner and staff, who have never been anything but kind and welcoming and helpful. The Wildflower is a beautifully decorated, charming and quiet country inn in a beautiful rural location and makes a perfect vacation trip for families.
Because we have always been so well received and treated by the owners and staff alike, I find it upsettting and hurtful to see a review that makes a sweeping exclamation of bigotry, applicable to owner and all staff, without any evidence to support it; particularly if it was made months after their stay which indicates they did nothing to address any perceived problems during their stay.
I am equally confounded that the most common complaints should be regarding the lack of high-speed internet or allegedly slow service: though we have never experienced such problems, I cannot help but wonder why anyone who considers keeping up a fast-paced lifestyle to be a priority would choose a vacation at a rural inn, much less consider any vacation at all.
I would unreservedly recommend the Wildflower Inn to anyone looking for a beautiful, quiet and picturesque family vacation. If an idyllic Robert Frost-crossed-with-Norman Rockwell experience is to your taste, then this is your perfect vacation spot.

“Perfect Relaxing Weekend!”

A weekend stay at the Wildflower Inn was my wife and my present to one another for Christmas and we couldn't have been happier. After the busy pace of the holidays, it was the perfect place to unwind and just be together. There is plenty to do though if fun and adventure is your goal. However, we chose to relax by the fire, snowshoe through the woods, and just relax. It was just what we needed, and we felt like the staff would've done anything for us that we needed.

Room Tip: The Classic rooms did not have a TV. That ended up making our trip better, but if you have to have o...

“Beautiful, Friendly, Charming, Delicious”

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Wildflower Inn for 3 nights in January. We had a great time. We had planned a ski trip and purchased the ski & stay package. The innkeepers called several days before our trip to inform us that the ski mountain was not in full operation due to lack of cold temperatures and snow and offered the opportunity to postpone our trip. We chose instead to reduce our package to a simple bed & breakfast, which was done with no hassle. We were happy with Wildflower before we even arrived!

The rooms aren't modern or overly adorned, but that is what gives them a unique character and charm. We stayed in the Upper Meadow Suite which was a single room with a queen bed and a small kitchenette. The view from our back window of the meadow was awesome, we enjoyed watching the cows from the farm next-door.

Breakfast was AWESOME with an unlimited amount of homemade maple granola (which was fantastic), fruit, yogurt, and pastries as well as your choice of freshly prepared hot foods including eggs or homemade pancakes.

We enjoyed dinner at Juniper's one night too. We had french onion soup, fresh burgers and locally-brewed beers, all of which were phenomenal. The creme-brule for dessert was good too. We thought the price to be very appropriate for the quality of food we received.

The ice-skating pond was frozen and smooth. The innkeepers even shoveled off the snow regularly. The sledding hill was very long and steep enough to pick up some good speed. The onsite activities are enough to keep entertained in the afternoon before dinner.

The price of the rooms was very appropriate for what we received. The room was comfortable, the included breakfast was delicious, the included afternoon snack was satisfying, the onsite activities were plentiful, and the staff was friendly. We loved the Wildflower Inn, would definitely stay again, and will recommend to friends. Thank you Wildflower!

We have a five year old and and a two year old and we absolutely love the Wildflower Inn. It has the perfect balance of comfort for both adults and children .. Both Jim and Mary O'Reilly are wonderfully kind and their staff's attention to detail is phenomenal. They really do treat you like part of their extended family. There is just so much to do right from the inn ..skating, sledding, snowshoeing ..their playroom has the most fantastic view! ..We recommend the inn highly to both our friends and family. An excellent value if you are considering a visit to the Northeast Kingdom!

Room Tip: With children In winter the carriage house is great because you can see the skating rink and sled hi...
