“Great Week-end”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2011

My wife and I stayed on labor day week-end. Took a shot in the dark after Hurricane Ireene. Booked the room on-line after reading all the reviews on trip advisor. We were not dissapointed. There is a restaraunt and lounge on the property and they had a live band on Saturday night. The new owners were very accomodating. When we got to our room I noticed that the toilet seat was broken and it was fixed in a matter of minutes. They made sure we were as comfortable as possible. They even offered us a fan, because there was no AC. They even openened the restaraunt on Sunday when there was just my wife and I staying that night. The room was very clean and comfortable. I would recomend this Motel to anyone looking for a very affordable place to stay in Vermont at the base of a nice little ski mountain.

“Never stay here”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 August 2011

'we were considering a trip to Vermont in December. I booked the room but had not put a deposit down on it. I was going to do this the first week of Septe mber, 2011. In August, we changed our minds and are staying local for the holidays,....the inn still charged my account $50 for cancelling the reservation when I hadnt even put a deposit on the room. This is poor business practice - I have stayed at other inns in V T and cancelled reservations with other inns before and have never been charged. These people must be desperate for $$$. I warn people to not book at this establishent unless you are absolutely certain and even the I'de bewary of an establishment such as this who steals money from potential customers.!

Hi Lynn,
I just wanted to thank you for the review. My husband and I appreciate your comments and helping to educate other travelers on how important it is to read thru travel cancellation policies so as there is no confusion and everyone has a complete understanding.Unfortunately most dont read the "fine print" however your attentiveness to this matter has been truly helpful to us in being diligent and meticulous in making sure other guests have a full and complete understanding of our cancellation policies etc.We are happy to read that you still plan on including Vermont in your travel plans as Vermont is truly a wonderful vacation spot.

Thank You, Lori Kenney

“Not at all what they represent on their website”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 August 2011

The couple that run this hotel are very nice and hospitable. However, there are several misrepresentations on their website about this hotel.
Firstly they state,"The Lodge Vermont features all the modern amenities and quality services you've come to expect from a top-rated hotel". This is absolutely not true. There are no elevators and the steps are very steep and if you have a big suitcase it's very difficult to bring it upstairs. Don't count on anyone offering to help you, either. If you're traveling in the summer you should also know that there is no air conditioning. There is maid service, but we did not get fresh towels (we were there four days). Which, we only needed after two days of using the same ones. The used towels were picked up off the floor (which we were told to leave the towels on the floor that we needed changed) and hung back up. Also, we did not get any coffee to go with the coffeemaker. Several times I called the front desk and nobody answered. You had to search for the owners if you needed anything, even ice. And, they mention their three HBO channels....yes, they have. But, you can't watch them because they are very fuzzy and inaudible.
On their website it mentions that there is live music on Friday and Saturdays. There was not live music on Friday or Saturday night. Also, a continental breakfast was supposed to be provided on Saturdays and Sundays. We were looking forward to this , but they didn't serve breakfast on Saturday. They didn't even mention this to us when we checked in. Although, we did see that they were serving breakfast on Sunday. On a positive note, they do have very good food in their restaurant for dinner and appetizers.
I usually don't write reviews about hotels even if it was a bad experience. But, i feel like they did not represent themselves accurately on their website. I would have like to know this when i was making a decision as to which hotel to pick.

“Friendly and accommodating”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 July 2011

We arrived at The Lodge for our last night on a 10 day road trip where everything had gone surprisingly smoothly up until this point until...lo and behold I had misbooked the last night and they weren’t expecting us (or anyone for that matter).

Lori was so lovely and accommodating, she took our situation in her stride, found us a room and didn’t charge me any extra. She kindly brought us a fridge and extra towels. And on top of it all, it was her birthday :O

The hotel itself is older with steep stairs. It has an outdoor pool but no air-conditioning. We came in the off season - this place is a stone’s throw from Magic Mountain (skiing) a very convenient location in Winter. If I were to come again in Summer I would choose a place that is less isolated but our hosts were really lovely and they will treat you well if you ever choose to stay here.

“A magical stay at Magic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2011

Tired of soulless, corporate-run skiing at mega-mountains, my partner and I decided to ski in early January at Magic Mountain, where pokey double chairlifts are the norm and liftlines are anomalies. Despite having only a handful of trails open, Magic did not disappoint us, and neither did The Lodge Vermont (I feel compelled here to add "formerly Inn at Magic Mountain"), which we chose for its very reasonable prices and proximity to the mountain. It's just steps from the base lodge, and if the access road and parking lot of the inn weren't plowed, it wouldn't be much of a stretch to call it ski-in, ski-out lodging!

We had never stayed here before, so we didn't know what to expect, and in fact arrived with no expectations. We were very pleasantly surprised. Our room, number 8, was clean and comfortable, but fairly standard motel fare. What set this place apart were the cozy common areas — starting with the lobby and continuing into the breakfast room and bar — and the friendly service. Innkeepers Lori and Wally Kenney greeted us warmly, provided us with information about skiing, quickly and cheerfully dispatched a request for a fan (to provide white noise for sleeping), and throughout the weekend took what seemed to be a genuine interest in our experiences on and off the mountain. Our one night at the inn's bar was something right out of a "Cheers" set! The menu was limited, but the food was excellent, and the coziness and sense of camaraderie were unsurpassed. In short, our stay felt very comfortable and homey, and we look forward to returning.

The Lodge Vermont and Magic Mountain seem to be a perfect fit, and we would highly recommend both for anyone looking for a special experience that will surely stand out long after so many others have been forgotten.
