“Warm and friendly hotel.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

I saw this hotel listed on Killingtons website and was lure by low price. My friend and I were going skiing wanted a inexpensive place to stay that wasnt a flea bag. We were both amazed when we got to the Greenbrier. Otto was a gracious host and gave us a ground floor room with patio. The room was clean and comfortable and less expensive then all the rest. I would highly recommend this inn to everyone and will Definitly stay here again next year. Keep up the good work.

“A warm familiar place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

Place was excellent. They treat you like family.. have breakfast waiting for you in the morning greet you very warmly and have excellent service. The smell of pine as you enter the inn is very inviting and is true to the whole place.
We loved our stay and hope to return very soon. Not to mention the skiing at killington was great! It's only a short drive up the hill and close to the places to dine in and have a good time with other people visiting killington.

“Good choice in Killington”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 August 2011

We stayed here on a last-minute trip when our regular joint (the Killington Motel across the street) was booked up for the night. Pleased with the experience -- spacious two-room suite (w/ pull-out for kids in living room), everything nice for a ski trip. Nice continental breakfast with a congenial host. Location is about a 6-minute drive from the Killington base.

“Wonderful friendly family place!”

The Greenbrier Inn in Killington, Vt was a wonderful experience. We were there for a family wedding weekend and had quite a few places to pick from, but are very glad we picked this one. The room was comfortable and the breakfast was served by Otto, one of the owners. Everyone there was family and made you feel like one of them. We were a little taken aback because there was no A/C and there were record temps in July 2011, but at night it cooled way down and we opened the sliders and they provided a fan. We were very comfortable. And, don't miss the fabulous gift shop on premises!

“Convenient location is the ONLY reason to stay here”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2011

We stayed here with our two kids this winter, mostly due to the positive reviews on Trip Advisor. We trust Trip Advisor, but this was one rare time where we feel we were very much steered in the wrong direction. (Lesson here: be sure to also check how many reviewers a hotel has, not just the rating.)

The one and only positive factor about the Greenbrier is the location. It is just minutes from the slopes, so after a long day you can quickly get back to your hotel.

The negatives overwhelmed the positives for us, however. Most importantly, the rooms did not feel clean. I kept my slippers on the whole time because the rugs looked dirty. We dropped something behind the dresser and when we moved the dresser, we found a pretzel. Found a granola bar wrapper behind our nightstand. The room looked shabby enough that I even checked the mattresses to look for bedbug stains (did not see anything).

The decor was dark and dated - unsightly patterns and colors, cheap wood furniture, bare boxsprings. The bathroom was so small that you could not get in and out without moving your body around the door because the toilet and tub were in the way....if you were on the toilet, you could not open the door without hitting your knees. The mattresses were on the soft side and the pillows were deflated. (The sheets themselves, though, did feel very crisp and clean.) We heard people walking in the room above us and in the hallway.

The breakfast was inadequate to serve the needs of their skiing guests - three small bins of cereal, some Quaker instant oatmeal, and a box of Entenmann's danish pastry, coffee, orange juice. That is it. We went to a local grocery store and bought our own breakfast for the next few days and skipped the B&B breakfast all together. (Last year we stayed at Hampton Inn in Rutland, VT and even there they had a waffle maker, eggs, sausage, pastries, etc.)

I can't say the service was great. I often found the staff on duty watching TV in the common area or reading a book. I got better service at Hampton Inn and the rooms were very clean, so we will probably go back there next time.

PS - another suggestion - when it snows on your uphill driveway, put sand on it so your guests do not have to gun the motors to get on to the (busy) roadway.
