“Pleasant Surprise - we will be back!”

While exploring the area, we drove past Smugglers Notch Inn and decided it would be the perfect place to spend the night so we could ski the following day. Fortunately for us, the Inn had a room available. We were pleasantly surprised with everything they had to offer; it was just what we would want for a small town New England Inn - charming (slanted floors - building is 200 years old), rustic feel, cozy (living room with a fire blazing in the fireplace, quilts on the beds), and clean. The tavern downstairs was lively (not overly loud - we couldn't hear any noise upstairs) and perfect to have a pint and walk up to bed. The food looked good, but we had already eaten dinner somewhere else. The following morning we had breakfast at "The Mix" bakery, which is attached to the inn.... it was unbelievable. A wonderful menu, fabulous friendly service, amazing food, and cozy feel (fresh flowers on the table, mason jars for glasses, etc). An overall wonderful stay! We will be back!

“Great place!”

We spent a weekend in this place, on February 2012 (3 adults and a baby). The location is fantastic for skiing and outdoor activities, and the place is a great base for this. The rooms are comfortable, and we spent a lot of time in the cozy living room near the fireplace, as well as the outdoor hut tub - a real treat after a day in the mountains! Bill and the other staff were very friendly and useful, and we really felt at home. Overall, an excellent place, and great value for money.

“Would be great except for the all night music from the bar”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

Great place but the music from the bar after hours till 4 AM is not cool.
Topic of discussion from all guests on the morning after. Rating would be higher but for this.

“Fabulous in every way!”

Our stay at Smugglers Notch Inn was a pleasant, charming, warm, comfortable and relaxing jewel in the beautiful mountains of Vermont. As lifelong downhill and cross country skiers we have traveled the northeast skiing and sleeping in a variety of winter accommodations. This Inn was by far one of our favorites. The 1790 house was decorated with impeccable historical taste, new firm wonderful mattresses, clean, warm rooms and a lovely gas fireplace in the large living room. The hot tub was an extra treat and the food was a spectacular surprise. My four adult children called the breakfast a "12 hour breakfast", as we were able to ski all day with only a quick clam chowder on the mountain. If you stay at the Inn on a Thurs, Fri, or Sat you are in for an added special bonus, as the restaurant was delicious, reasonably priced with a large menu - hearty and filling - in a beautiful dining room complete with a wood stove and wall murals. Any other night offers the Tavern food downstairs or a gourmet meal down the street walking distance at The Family Table.

“Thanksgiving at the Inn”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 November 2011

My parents and I enjoyed a warm and personal stay at this Inn over Thanksgiving. We had warm and wonderful rooms, a welcoming and open inn, drinks and games in the tavern, and a tasty meal in the restaurant. Highly recommended.
