Our stay at Smugglers Notch Inn was a pleasant, charming, warm, comfortable and relaxing jewel in the beautiful mountains of Vermont. As lifelong downhill and cross country skiers we have traveled the northeast skiing and sleeping in a variety of winter accommodations. This Inn was by far one of our favorites. The 1790 house was decorated with impeccable historical taste, new firm wonderful mattresses, clean, warm rooms and a lovely gas fireplace in the large living room. The hot tub was an extra treat and the food was a spectacular surprise. My four adult children called the breakfast a "12 hour breakfast", as we were able to ski all day with only a quick clam chowder on the mountain. If you stay at the Inn on a Thurs, Fri, or Sat you are in for an added special bonus, as the restaurant was delicious, reasonably priced with a large menu - hearty and filling - in a beautiful dining room complete with a wood stove and wall murals. Any other night offers the Tavern food downstairs or a gourmet meal down the street walking distance at The Family Table.
