“Fabulous in every way!”

Our stay at Smugglers Notch Inn was a pleasant, charming, warm, comfortable and relaxing jewel in the beautiful mountains of Vermont. As lifelong downhill and cross country skiers we have traveled the northeast skiing and sleeping in a variety of winter accommodations. This Inn was by far one of our favorites. The 1790 house was decorated with impeccable historical taste, new firm wonderful mattresses, clean, warm rooms and a lovely gas fireplace in the large living room. The hot tub was an extra treat and the food was a spectacular surprise. My four adult children called the breakfast a "12 hour breakfast", as we were able to ski all day with only a quick clam chowder on the mountain. If you stay at the Inn on a Thurs, Fri, or Sat you are in for an added special bonus, as the restaurant was delicious, reasonably priced with a large menu - hearty and filling - in a beautiful dining room complete with a wood stove and wall murals. Any other night offers the Tavern food downstairs or a gourmet meal down the street walking distance at The Family Table.

“Thanksgiving at the Inn”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 November 2011

My parents and I enjoyed a warm and personal stay at this Inn over Thanksgiving. We had warm and wonderful rooms, a welcoming and open inn, drinks and games in the tavern, and a tasty meal in the restaurant. Highly recommended.

“Not the Ritz, but Charming”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 October 2011

We spent a long summer working and remodeling and wanted to get away to a low key place where we wouldn't have to dress or pay through the nose to relax.......this hotel fit the bill perfectly. Kathy, the on-site manager was very accommodating and available. The outdoor jacuzzi was perfect. Our room had seen better days but overall, the atmosphere was like staying at a friend's house, very casual and unassuming. Breakfast next door was great as was the meal at 158 East Main, which was superb. Although this gem could use an infusion of cash and updating immediately, it still met our needs at a very nice price.

“Great stay in quaint inn.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 October 2011

We spent a night here on our way to Canada, and had a great stay in our charming, well decorated room - with jacuzzi tub! We enjoyed eating in the pub downstairs, and getting breakfast nearby the next morning. This inn totally exceeded my expectations. It's charming, comfortable and unique.

“Delightful get-away!”

I hadn't done much research on Smugglers' Notch Inn before our visit. It was merely located in an area we wanted to visit. We had planned to stay only one night, but after settling into our room, we decided to make it two nights. It is a beautifully decorated and well-maintained old inn. I fell in love with it as soon as I walked up the stairs and saw the wonderful slant of the floors. The room was most comfortable and the bathroom more than adequate (there were a couple of loose floor tiles that would stick to your feet. A bit annoying, but nothing to complain about). The attached restaurant was good, but we found one we liked better about a block away. The attached bakery (The Mix) is excellent!!!! Any restaurant where I can get a variety of loose tea for breakfast is tops with me. The location is excellent as well, although there is a bit of street noise. The only drawback we experienced was with the room temperature. The room was quite stuffy at night even with the window completely open. It wasn't cool enough for heat and not hot enough for A/C, so the window was it for regulating the temperature. I would definitely recommend this inn and would be happy to return.
