Chester House Inn
This historic house was built in three stages. The first section, with the original fireplace, was built in 1780. The front portion, where we stayed, was built in 1850. The back section, where the proprietors live, was built later. We stayed in room number 4, the Queen Charlotte room, for two nights. The room is beautifully decorated with a quilted bedspread that matched quilted valances. The windows also sported lace curtains and drop-down shades. The bed is a four-poster queen. There’s a large closet, two chest-of-drawers, a gas fireplace, a shower and a huge spa tub. There are only two drawbacks: First, there is only a curtain separating the bathroom from the bedroom; and second, the room is at the front of the house next to the highway. There is virtually no traffic from 9 PM to the morning commute around 6:30 AM, but the rest of the time you can hear cars passing by.
The proprietors, Bob and Jan, who have taken up inn keeping as a retirement business, are both warm and welcoming. Jan’s breakfasts were really excellent: mixed fruit topped with berry sorbet, sausage, bacon, waffles, vegetable frittata, won-ton pillows filled with banana and chocolate, scones and muffins.

We recently treated ourselves to a weekend in VT and chose the Chester House Inn for our accommodations. We found the Inn to be charming, clean and comfortable. Bob and Jan took every opportunity to make our stay pleasant and relaxing -- and Jan cooks some dynamite breakfasts. Our stay was filled with small touches that made all the difference, including home-baked goodies, apples and a wide selection of coffee, tea and cocoa always available. Not a single complaint to be made; it was a great place to stay!

We had a really pleasant one night stay at this friendly and comfortable inn during our recent tour of New England. Our reservation from the UK was handled well and we were made to feel very welcome. When we arrived we were exhausted but immediately began to relax and unwind by sitting in the evening on the porch and watch the world go by. The morning home prepared breakfast was excellent.

My wife and I had a fantastic stay at the Chester House Inn during our recent trip to Vermont for some skiing and R and R. The innkeepers, Jan and Bob, were most pleasant and made us feel very much at home from the moment we walked through the door. They very much wanted us to be comfortable.
The inn is quite charming, quiet, clean and very cozy. We stayed in a gorgeous room (Room 2) which had a delightful fireplace, private bath and a sauna-shower. The steam was soooo relaxing after a wonderful but tiring day at Okemo. Jan's breakfasts were fantastic every day. We never left the dining room hungry.
This B&B is in a great location, since it's right across the street from a couple of very nice restaurants. So we didn't have to drive to dinner, which I hate to do after a day of skiing. There’s also a great scotish pub within a short walk. We met some fellow skiers there and compared notes about where we were all staying, and I think we chose the right place.
Our time at the Chester House Inn was wonderful! We felt rejuvenated and ready to return to our normal routine - thanks, in large part, to the great atmosphere and service we found at the Chester House. We will return to this wonderful B&B in Vermont on our next trip north!
