The value for money of Hartwell House is undeniable and the drive in to Burlington is very straight forward meaning the location is one of its plus points.
Personally I found the property a bit "dated" and there were lots of trinkets which doesn't really do it for me. It made the place feel quite unmodern. I guess we got what we paid for and the bedroom was reasonably small. The bathroom was also shared between all the rooms which could prove problematic.
I think the downstairs room was for guests use but that was not made clear to us as the impression seemed to be that Linda had her own space out the back. there were quite a few instructions around as well which was unnerving. She also owns two dogs. This may be an issue for some but they were well behaved and did not cause any disturbance.
I found the host to be hard work and not overly talkative and not forthcoming in engaging which made us both feel a little uneasy at breakfast time. She should be given the benefit of the doubt though as I think she had very recently experienced some personal trauma.
