My boyfriend and I recently stayed at On the Hill. Kay is a wonderful hostess and cooked us up two delicious breakfasts. She was very accommodating of my dietary needs, but since my boyfriend does not have the same needs, she made him something slightly different which I know he appreciated. We woke up early one morning for a hike, and she had no trouble with getting us breakfast before we left. Our room was clean and the bed was comfortable. We also liked being so close to downtown Burlington (about 1 mile) and as we were on a budget, the price was right. I will say that you are essentially staying in a home, so while I would highly recommend On the Hill, keep in mind that it's not like a typical hotel. On the Hill is perfect for older couples, friends, business trips, or solo travelers in the Burlington area.

We chose "On the Hill" bases on Tripadvisor reviews, and we were not disapointed. I can only endorse the recent reviews - Kay is a charming hostess and everything about the property was good. The breakfasts were delicious, and such a delight to have home cooking after a couple weeks of standard hotel fare. The price was reasonable - I suspect a lot of the more expensive Burlington accommodation is not as good.

We picked this B&B because it was less expensive than other local b&bs (perhaps because the bathroom was not connected to our bedroom) and we thought the local motels were overpriced. We are glad we did. Kay is a charming and engaging hostess who makes you feel at home. Her breakfast was imaginative and delicious, featuring Vermont products. She joined her guests for interesting conversation. Our bed was comfortable and the detached bathroom for our exclusive use was first class. The location is just a few minute drive to downtown. The single floor mid century house is close to the main highway but is not easy to find in the suburban-type neighborhood with curved streets so good directions are important. It is on a shaded lot and the weather was humid during our visit. Our room had carpeting and my wife had some allergy which she attributed to mildew.

This is a lovely, homelike B&B owned by a kind woman who makes you feel very welcome. Every single thing was wonderful: the decor, the peace and quiet, the quality of the private shower, the breakfast - even the mattress. The place is not only clean, but truly an exceptionally well-kept home. I really can't say enough good things about it.

Of course, as others have noted, this is tucked away in a quiet, residential neighborhood, and thus, not absolutely ideal for walking downtown, but it's really not a bad walk if you don't get lost; there are sidewalks.
