This was our 2nd visit to the Willard Street Inn and it was as good as we had remembered it. It is a great place to go for some peace and quiet and as a base for exploring Burlington and Western Vermont.
One of our favorite parts of our stay is the breakfast served each morning. You get your choice of 3 (one is a yogurt/granola-type option, one is an egg dish, and one is a sweet dish such as French toast). You dine in their beautiful solarium which is warm and inviting on a cold day. They play classical music, serve hot coffee and tea, and have the gas stove fired up. The food is exceptional-from the pastries brought out with your coffee to the fresh fruit served w/ breakfast, to the main entree. They take good care of you!
Both times we have found the inn very clean and quiet. The staff in attentive and helpful.
For our first visit, we stayed in the Champlain Lookout room. It is roomy, comfortable, well-decorated, and quiet. Along with a beautiful canopied queen bed, it has a sitting area with two chairs and a table. For our second visit, we stayed on the third floor in the warm and cozy Rose Garden room. The vaulted ceiling and good decorating makes it a special room.
A short walk from the Inn takes you to downtown Burlington where the main street is open to pedestrian traffic only. There is good shopping, an independent book store, and many wonderful restaurants.
During our visits, we have made day trips to Stowe, Shelburne Farms, and Ben and Jerry's. We also enjoy taking drives through the Vermont countryside with its beautiful scenery. Attached are pictures from the 1st visit.
