“?????????????”

My family and I visited this place in February 2011 and we loved it although the mountain was closed we were extremely happy. This was our first trip to Vermont. They had snow at the time and had a place for tubing they had made which my daughter who was 3 at the time really enjoyed. The people were friendly and the place was immaculate. We had a very updated well decorated room. As a timeshare member who exchanged points we were required to pay a $80 cleaning fee which we had no problem paying.

We loved it so much we decided to go back for December 2011 to celebrate the New Year. Upon our arrival there was no snow but it was not a big deal we knew that the mountain was closed and that we would be going to other mountains that made their own snow. As we drove we noticed the little area that had the canoe and tubing rentals was closed. When we arrived (we got there about 2:30) they told us our room was not ready (not a big deal we were early) so we left for a bite to eat. once we got in the room It wasn't the same as it was the first time it wasn't as clean the one bathroom had hair on the floor. The blinds were very dusty the skylight in the upstairs bedroom had a little mold growing, there was a structural crack along the wall and the bedroom door would not close it was cracked along the handle. The heat itself was a lil difficult to regulate but we dressed accordingly. I am not a big complainer about stuff especially if I can clean it or work with it. We had a baby gate so the door wasn't an issue when putting my lil one to bed. I cleaned up the bathroom and kept it moving after all we are on vacation. Well to my surprise I am now being charged for the door. I left a message for the general Manager and have yet to hear from her. The man I spoke was completely rude which of course I reciprocated (who wouldn't when you are being charged $257 for a 6 panel door you can get a home depot for $60) He accused me of kicking the door in (which my foot would have went through) and their being splinters on the floor from us kicking it in. He also said we removed the lock for what I still don't know but we don't make a habit of bringing tools with us on vacation. I am furious and if anyone has the number for an owner i would appreciate it. While on vacation we were on the mountain or out driving to attractions that were not so close. So we were exhausted and would crash soon after getting back. I am disgusted that we would be charged and treated with such disrespect. We have no problem paying for it had we done it but this simply isn't the case.

“Beautiful location with some flaws”

This was our first visit to Vermont and it was an extended family ski trip. When we first planned it we were hopeful the mountain would be open for skiing. That didnt work out. The mountain at the resort is currently under foreclosure, we have heard. We stayed in a two story 3 bedroom condo in the main building. We had 7 adults and 4 children 17 thru 11.
PROS: full kitchen with dishwasher, pots and pans, silverware, and dishes.
Movie theater showing movies each night with FREE movie theater popcorn.
pool and fitness center
Wifi
CONS:The temperature in the entire condo could not be regulated by thermostats regardless of what we set them at it was 74 in the rooms. Too warm. With all the people it just needed to be cooler.
No snow..mother nature did not cooperate. The group was able to drive to Killington(1.25 hours away) and Okemo(30 minutes away) where they were making snow.
No printer available to guests. Tickets for local resorts can be purchased online and printed. They can be emailed to front desk.

Good Day,

Thank you for taking the time to share your comments regarding your stay at Holiday Inn Club Vacations at Ascutney Mountain Resort.

I am very pleased to hear that you and your family enjoyed the 3 bedroom unit, space, and kitchen and resort amenities.

We remain hopeful that someone will aquire the ski area in the future to enhance the resort during the ski season. As you mentioned Mother Nature has not been as fruitful this season as she was last year. We exceeded numerous records in VT last year. We still have 3 months left to the season!!! In addition, we appreciate your comments regarding the sale of lift tickets through our Front Desk for 2 area resorts and our ability and pleasure to print others for our guests as submitted and requested.

In addition, I apologize for the heat issue. We continue to explore options to better regulate the system with our vendor.

Again, thank you for sharing your pros and cons regarding your stay.

We look forward to seeing you in the future at Holiday Inn Club Vacations at Ascutney Mountain Resort.

Regards,

The Team at Holiday Inn Club Vacations at Ascutney Mountain Resort.

“Relaxing Getaway”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2011

Just returned from a very relaxing and enjoyable four night stay. Prior to our trip I was a bit apprehensive due to the negative reviews. However this resort exceeded our expectations. Here is a summary of our experience:

Location: the resort is located in a remote area. I highly recommend using a GPS. Unfortunately we arrived at night and got very lost. During the day the scenery is beautiful-rolling hills, farms and a quiet peaceful countryside. It's exactly what you would expect in Vermont. Be prepared to drive as the closest tourist attractions are approximately 20-30 minutes away.

Resort: our room was spacious updated and very well equipped. We have traveled to many destinations and this was the best room we have stayed in. It was a 2 bedroom with a beautiful view to Ascutney mountain. We are a family of five and had ample room. The kitchen was fully equipped making it easy to cook full meals. If you prefer not to cook theTavern was open for dinner and drinks and served your typical bar food. The fitness center was located in another building. To get there was a 5 minute walk or 30 second car drive. The fitness center had a workout room, racquetball, basketball and tennis courts along with an indoor pool. The kids enjoyed the indoor pool. Overall, the service was topnotch. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating. A special thanks to Helen, Ken, Ivan, and maintainence.

Attractions: Woodstock is a quaint town and a nice place to walk around and have lunch. The Billings farm is nearby.
Montshire museum is a hands on science museum for kids. Bring a picnic lunch and go on a nature hike or take a two minute drive to Hanover NH and have a bite to eat on Main street.
Quiechee village is also worth visiting. On the way there stop by Simon Pierce and take a tour of the pottery making and glass blowing. Harpoon Brewery is there as well and is a great place to have lunch.

This was a wonderful and relaxing family vacation. Unfortnately the mountain is closed for skiing this season but if you are looking for a peaceful getaway this resort won't disappoint.

“Great Place For 2 or more Families to stay together”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 November 2011

We had a great time at this club vacation hotel. My and my sisters family stayed in a 3 bedroom apartment with our mom, a total of 9 people. The living room was big, kitchen, dining area and one bedroom and one bathroom on one floor. two bedrooms on upper floor and another bathroom.
Although they did not have the room ready when we arrived around 5 PM, they gave us another room in an adjacent building.
There are plenty of activities around. We had an adventurous day trip with the River Northeast and all nine of us did white water rafting in class 2 rapids. They were late because of traffic, but we had fun in the end. One of the rafts landed on a small rock in the middle of the river!!
The kitchen was fully stocked with pots and pans, so that helped us cook meals on the days that we did not go out. We stayed for a week.
The staff was friendly and helpful. There is a coffee machine in the main building and a small store. They have kids activities and movie screenings with popcorn.
Also has a nice swimming pool (huge) and gym (huge), in a separate building. Slides and swings for kids are also there next to the building.
Lots of stuff to do nearby, covered bridges visits. Quechee Gorge is not too far, and Simon Pearce is in the town of Quechee. we also visited Ben & Jerry's, Burlington, Billings farm museum, all nearby in sort of day trips. Then you come back and relax just like in your own home!
The hotel has a folder of nearby activities and places to eat that you can do in the main building.
Overall, great value for family stays together.

Room Tip: Even if you call early, room may not be ready. Try to get the room in the main building or the build...

Good Day,

Thank you for taking the time to post comments regarding your recent stay at our resort.

I'm sorry the assigned unit was not readily available, however, I am pleased that we were able to accommodate you and your family in a similar alternate unit.

I was pleased to read that everyone had a great experience with River's Northeast Adventures, enjoyed the size of the units, kitchen items, and property amenities.

Again, thank you for sharing your feedback.

We look forward to seeing you and your family return to our beautiful location in the future and the opportunity to provide another memorable vacation experience.

“There's no rating lower than 'Terrible!'?”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2011

Too bad, there should be for this place, e.g., 'Awful!', 'Stay Away!'. At any rate, to continue:

Want to ski at Ascutney? You can't, the skiing is closed for the winter.
Want bread at Brown's? You can't get any, there isn't any put on the table. They will toast you a hamburger roll if you ask.
Want service at Brown's? You can't get it, there aren't enough wait staff in attendance to give you service.
Want heat in your condo or room? If the temp outside is 55 or above, there isn't any. The corporation has decided, from the comfort and warmth of their location in Orlando, FLORIDA, that you can't have any. A space heater will be provided for you until the temp goes down.
Want your room cleaned as part of your rates? You can't get it, they don't provide it. You'll have to pay either $15. a day or $26. a day, depending on which front desk person you ask.
Want a towel exchange instead, for $7. a day? Don't bother, they SEEM to be typing in your request, but then don't bother doing it.
Want to have your party together in one building and think you're getting your request in the contract? You can't get it, since they don't honor requests.
Want something to drink out of in your bathroom? You can't, they don't provide cups, you'll have to ask for cups from the front desk.

Want a nice stay at a well-run, efficient, customer-friendly resort for a decent price?

Well then do not stay at the Ascutney!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Room Tip: To choose a good room, go to another hotel. Do not go to the Ascutney!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
