“The worst part is having to leave!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 February 2011

My husband and I tried out the October Country Inn earlier this month because we needed a place to stay near Killington, where we were skiing for the weekend. We could not have been more pleased with our choice! The innkeepers Chuck and Edie are the perfect combination of friendly and laid-back, so we felt adequately welcomed and very much at home.

The Inn is decorated in the quintessential Vermont farmhouse style (fruited wallpaper in the dining room, wide pine floors, lovely quilts on the beds, tasteful color palettes) and is as impeccably charming as it is clean.

Chuck's daily breakfasts were absolutely delicious, and we very much appreciated the variety of breakfast foods (freshly baked scones, oatmeal with apples and raisins, yogurt / granola, fresh fruits, cold cereals) set out in addition to Chuck's specials. It is exactly what we needed to energize us before a full day on the mountain.

In addition to providing a delight for all the senses, the October Country Inn could not be more reasonably priced. I very much appreciated the room rates, especially compared to the other lodging in the Killington area.

With such great rates, a prime location (15min drive from the lifts), and endless charm, my husband and I returned to the OCI to ski Killington again two weeks later and will most likely return again and again in the future. I cannot imagine finding a nicer place to stay!

“An amazing inn”

Just got back from a week long stay in Vermont where our first B&B was the OCI. The drive in via New York State was amazing and very scenic; we really enjoyed coming into this part of Vermont. Chuck & Edie were delightful hosts and very nice company. The inn is very well maintained and on a nice piece of property. It is well decorated and has a great country inn feel. I can imagine during the winter it is even nicer and cosier. As it was, it was a bit humid and hot when we stayed and you could feel it throughout the inn.

The food was absolutely phenomenal. We stayed at 3 other B&Bs on the trip and the food at OCI was quite possibly the best we had. It was Italian night so we had humongous free range organic chicken (garlic encrusted), eggplant parmigiano, pesto spaghetti, mixed green salad, and homemade bread. It was awesome.

Chuck has an encyclopedic knowledge of trails in the area and gave us very helpful advice and directions. He also packed us an amazing pair of sandwiches for the trail.

We had a great time at OCI. Our only small complaint was that our room did not have AC (just a fan) and with the humidity things felt a bit damp. But the room was clean and well maintained and the bathroom was as well, so it's hard to complain. We'd definitely come back!

Due to this summer's unusual heat wave, and to make our guests' stays more comfortable, all of our guest rooms are now air conditioned!

“Just what a country inn should be!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 July 2010

The inn and innkeepers, Edie & Chuck, were recommended by another local B&B that was full. Chuck and Edie were as warm, inviting and charming as their inn. There's a very large comfortable living room, 2 dining areas for the delicious breakfast complete with coffee, juice, milk, cereal and on our weekend - sour cream pancakes with sausage and fruit along with breads and scones. We didn't leave the table hungry.

Our bedroom was average size, although they do have larger rooms with more beds for families. Our bed was very comfortable and the shower in our bathroom had three shower heads. Nothing like a full body rinse! The only minus was a noisy window air-conditioner, but most of the year you wouldn't need it anyway.

The inn has a very large well-maintained yard with flower and vegetable gardens. There are lots of lawn chairs and an in-ground pool with an open cabana.

My wife and I would highly recommend a stay at the October Country Inn.

“Most relaxing, warm, friendly, fun, sweet place to stay - like home away from home.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2009

Edie and Chuck, owners of the inn, couldn't be more amazing. They are there to cater to anything you might need, or to have an interesting talk - or to leave you alone - whatever the mood calls for. The inn feels like a home away from for our family, especially after our recent 2nd visit. The food is wonderful; the living room is a relaxing place to read one of the millions of books from the shelves, chat with other guests, or play board games. Our room was charming and comfortable. The pool is sparkling and surrounded by trees. The tea and cookies are always available. We traveled with our 10-year-old daughter, and we all feel very at home at the inn. Chuck and Edie's sense of humor and quick wits are enough reason to stay, but there's so much more. We even made some new life-long friends at the inn last summer, and we all returned together this year. We can't wait to come back to the peacefulness of the October Country Inn!!!!
