I booked the Autumn Inn for my sister's graduation in June 2011. I read the reviews on Trip Advisor and went to the Inn's website. It looked decent. I had booked 2 rooms for 7 nights. Upon our arrival, I was left horrified. The rooms are extremely shabby (the bathrooms looked cleaner than the rooms), the bedsheets looked re-used (pubic hair), the blankets smelt musty and dirty, and the furniture in the room was mismatched and very dated. Ok, so the furniture is not a concern at 1am. But safety certainly was an issue! The doors do not have secure locks. If you put your weight on it, it will pop open as its one of those locks that you can stick a flat object into to prop it open. I once accidentally used my dad's keys on my room - it worked. So the same key opened two separate locks. There were some very dodgey people staying in the other rooms. Mostly men. I saw two of them steal some letters off the motel's sign board and run off. The motel is in the middle of nowhere, in a very isolated area. We barely slept through the night. I made enquiries with some other places the following morning, including a police officer. I was informed that this place is used mainly by people on parole, who have recently been released from prison. The high room rates are justified as most other places do not take released offenders in without proof of identity or documents etc. The Autumn Inn takes them in without proof of paperwork. I can totally believe that. Their booking in procedure is a basic gmail email account. The owner of the place, a Mr. Patel, runs the place on small chits of paper. I complained about the standard and safety of the rooms. I got a shrug. I mentioned that the rooms looked nothing like on their website. Another shrug. I asked for a full refund. My family and I were charged for our one sleepless night and the rest put back on our card. We left after just one night. We didn't have another booking but knew that we had to check other places rather than spend another night in this seedy place.
My advice to you...AVOID THIS PLACE!!! Your safety is not guaranteed. Your belongings may not be safe. Your health may not be safe. We eventually found a cheaper, MUCH NICER place at the Kirkside Lodge. The owner was so friendly and accommodating. It was a welcome change from the Autumn Inn.
