Between Christmas and the New Year, my spouse and I had the best accommodation experience ever, for any of our trips! Our Henry House stay was awesome.
The setting is fantastic - a 250 year-old inn nestled in a pastoral valley beside a covered bridge and backed by 25 acres of meadow and woodlands. The inn is what comes to mind when picturing a New England (Vermont) visit. The quaintness and the quiet were exactly what we were looking for.
The hospitality of David and Nancy, the innkeepers, really made our visit: just the right amount of attention. David's fires in the Keeping room and Nancy's breakfasts were terrific. As one of the past guests pointed out in the guestbook, we felt like royalty when we had the inn to ourselves at night.
Our room had exposed beams on the ceiling, wide (the widest I've ever seen) pine board floors, and a view of the covered bridge and the surrounding hills. We felt immersed in history.
A small sign near the porch steps says, "Arrive as strangers, leave as friends." True!
