We would like to advise you of an extremely bad experience this hotel which we booked on the Orbitz web site in order to attend a funeral. It was listed first on the site, the most reasonably priced and was the closest to where we had to be. However, to start it all off, the woman answering the phone at the motel when we called for directions from the same town did not speak English (only a word here or there) nor could she understand us, making it impossible to get directions from her. We ended up driving through many back roads, asking a number of different people for directions. When we finally arrived at the motor inn at approximately 5:45 p.m., we were shocked as to what it looked like compared to the pictures on the web site. My first reaction was “You have got to be kidding”. However, decided to reserve judgment until we went in. Well, it got worse - the room smelled, the phone did not work and we had to ask the woman 3 times to fix it - she kept saying 5 minutes, 5 minutes, and the toilet did not flush. I would also like to add that there were NO other vehicles in the lot so obviously all the rooms were vacant. We were finally able to call out to the funeral home for directions. The service was to be from 6-8. As we were running late by this point there was no time to spare if we were to make it to the service.
At the service we were given the number of a nearby Best Western and were able to book a room there. From the funeral home we returned to the motel (approximately 8:15 p.m.)and my husband went to the office to return the key and inform them that the room was disgusting and we would not be staying. He asked for something in writing stating that we indeed were not staying and she refused to give him anything – no receipt indicating time in or out– absolutely nothing. We just left as we needed to attend the reception at a family member’s home. When we checked into the Best Western at 10:56 p.m. we called the Orbitz customer service line. The service representative contacted the motel and stated our issue and requested a refund. The manager said he would not refund any money as they were not told that there was anything wrong with the room. The manager was not there at the either time that my husband was in the office and the woman couldn’t understand anything my husband said so that leaves us where? At this point we have our credit card disputing the charge.
At the service a family member told us of her experience with the same motor inn last year – “smelled like cat urine” her daughter had booked it off the internet also. They didn’t stay – nor was there money refunded. This motor inn is totally misrepresented -- falsely advertised. We would hate to think of the amount of other parties that have had the same experience and yet this motel continues to collect fees for rooms booked online and never actually had the guests stay due to the deplorable condition of the place!
