“Straight out of a Hitchcock movie - We called it "Bate's motel"”

We stayed one night on route from New England to Canada. Place was easy to find, clean and reasonably comfortable. Water was hot and plentiful.
Breakfast was available from reception - with only 1 table & 2 chairs for the whole property, it was necessary to take your food back to you room - not good on a wet day!
Was also put off a little by the fact that three different members of the managing family reminded us that we had to pay our bill - if they wanted payment on arrival, they should have said so!!

As a "Room for the night" it was fine -but sure there are better places to stay for the money.

“Our overnight stay was enjoyable, quiet and peaceful.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 July 2009

The hotel manager was very agreable. She gave us a choice between a cabin and a motel room.. The room was clean; the water was hot.;carpets were spotless. The clean bathroom looked as if it had been recently renovated.. It is an old motel which could use a little paint on the outside, but I am sure it will be done. The price was reasonable and I would not be afraid to recomnend it to my friends.

“Spend a little more and go elsewhere!”

We stayed in the Vermonter Motor Lodge for one night. We booked two rooms. When we got there it was obvious we were the only guests. No cars at all and no tracks in the snow. I asked that we have two rooms next to each other because the other room was to have my two daughters. They would not give us 2 rooms next to each other. My kids were down the other end of the parking lot! Next we went in to the first room. It smelled bad and was cold. The carpet, although recently vacuumed, was filthy and stained. There were ants everywhere. (in the towels, in the bedding, on the floors). The bedding appeared to be clean otherwise. My kids refused to stay in this room. We went to the next room. Again, filthy carpet, smelly, and cold, but the room seemed to be nicely furnished. Little did I know until the next day that the medicine cabinet was actually full of medicines and other odd little bottles of powdered substances. Not safe for children at all. My kids insisted on looking in the closets and under the beds because they were a little scared of the area. No boogeymen, but there was a mouse carcass. Nice.
We left for an engagement at 7pm. When I came back at 9 the lights were all off. This was very dangerous walking in especially since the driveway was packed ice. There was no ice machine, although we had ice buckets and glasses supplied to us. We walked to the soda machine but it was out of order and unplugged. The continental breakfast was a joke and it was put out at least the day before because I saw it when I checked in. The owner did shovel our walk to the drive at 7am and plowed a strip large enough for my compact car to get back out but the ice was still very slippery and not salted.
Forget about the wireless access they promise. The signal is very weak and intermittent. We were given coffee packets but no creamers or sugar and I wouldn't advise drinking the somewhat smelly water. The water was hot when we showered but we were the only guests.
There was no onsite restaurant as advertised. There seems to be a building that says restaurant but it is not open. Luckily, town is only 4 miles away and has a Dunkin Donuts that stays open.
The pictures are misleading. Pulling into the driveway my kids declared they were going to sleep in the car. I would have joined them had the room not been already paid for, and it was only for one night..how bad could it be? Learn from my mistake. Sleep in your car or pay $20 more in town. Most barns are more appealing, cleaner and smell better than the Vermonter Motor Lodge.

“clean, quiet & comfortable”

We stayed for 2 nights...the room were clean, beds were comfortable, we could sit outside on the porch & it was quiet.
We traveled with 2 other couples and everyone was pleased.
Had plenty of hot water...we met other guests that have stayed there every year for the past 30! One fellow has seen 4 owners...we have seen 2 I believe the new owners have had it for 3 yrs.
It is out of town but that was not a problem for us...we have stayed there every September since 2000 & have booked our rooms for next September.

“Not recommended”

We booked this room online for a July weekend when there seemed no other motels available. The first room we were assigned was infested with bugs. The beds were clearly infested with small bugs and ticks. I don't understand how the ticks got there--maybe a prior guest with a dog?

After complaining, we were given a second room that we checked out THOROUGHLY, and it was satisfactory.
