My husband and I just returned from a weekend getaway to Bennington. We were traveling with our dog, plus it was the heart of fall foliage season, so our overnight accommodation options were limited. We stayed two nights at the Bennington Motor Inn and found it to be adequate for our needs. The room was clean and had all the basics as well as a small refrigerator and microwave. The decor was extremely outdated with lace curtains, old furniture and faded bedspreads so this is not the place for discriminating travelers. The location is great and the owners were hospitable.

After looking at the highly inflated prices of some other hotels in Bennington, we decided on this one. Our first indication that it was going to be a bad experience was when we were checking in. They charged us more than we had been quoted by Expedia... we realize now that some of the smaller motels charge the customer the fee that they are charged by Expedia which is not right. Nonetheless we did not have much choice.
Our room was dated, cloyingly perfumed, and very tired looking. The air conditioner was a joke, doing very little to cool the room on a stifflingly hot day. The washroom had several long, dark hairs on the floor. Once we found the source of the hideous scent, we moved it outside (a plug in wall thing). It made us wonder what odors they were trying to mask with it. We had an absolutely terrible sleep on a bed and pillows that probably have not been changed in 20 years. I think it is an absolute rip off that they would charge nearly $100 for this, when the next night we stayed in a brand new Holiday Inn in Manchester, NH for $59, thanks to Priceline! Shame on you Bennington Motor Inn. It was awful experience and we felt that it warranted warning others to stay away. Take your hard earned money elsewhere.

Some people seem to expect a 5-star hotel here. Stop whining, this small inn is just fine. Owners are courteous and nice. If you want to pay over $160 for the Hampton Inn, then go right ahead. This is almost half the cost and has a hometown feel to it.
Although dated, everything was in working order and clean. Within walking distance to Bennington Station which is a great place to eat.
We would stay again.

Very convenient location and across from Hemmings Motor, a car lovers gift shop and gas station. Decent continental breakfast, helpful and friendly owners. Room had "victorian" touches.
