“Not up to Choice Inns quality”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 December 2011

I called the national Choice Hotels reservation line while on the road and made a reservation for the night. While making the reservation I asked about a workout area or a pool to exercise. The national operator said no workout area but there was a pool. I made the reservation. I arrived at the motel to find that the person at the front desk did not know how to pull up the reservation on the computer. It turns out that the regular desk person was gone on vacation. The next morning a new man was at the desk, but he was the maintenance person who was covering the front desk and knew even less about how to run things at the desk! Yes, it was close to Christmas, but there should be someone who knows how things run! There was a pool and suana, but outside and were shut down for the season. We were offered a room at $10 off the price given on the phone. Ok, I was tired and said yes. The room was run down. It had external corridors so the cold air was right outside the door and there was a draft thru the room. We had to ask for extra blankets to wrap in and use on the bed to keep warm. About midnight the room warmed up. The shower was old with a refitted head that hit me mid chest and my tall husband could hardly bend over far enough to get water on his head. Breakfast was skimpy including an orange drink mix as a replacement for orange juice. With the number of other places to stay in Wendover I would definitely not stay here again.

“DON'T STAY HERE!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 October 2011

Although Jaime, the manager, was very accommodating when we asked to move to a room that didn't smell like smoke (we requested non-smoking), this place is a dump. It is not up to the standards of a Choice Hotel/Quality Inn. Very poorly maintained--in need of a lot of paint, repairs, new carpets. The rate was almost twice what we could have paid to stay at a much nicer place but we were tired from a very long drive and spotted the Quality Inn sign and stopped there. Admittedly, the bathroom was clean and the bed comfortable but in total, it was a mess. I didn't take off my socks as the carpet was so yucky.

“GO UP THE STREET...”

The room was somewhat clean but the toilet ran constant, and the HOT water ran, not drip, ran constantly in the bathtub. The noise was so loud from the bathroom that we had to keep the door closed while sleeping. When you opened the door it was so warm, sauna like, from the hot water running in the tub. The air conditioner also left the carpet soaked in front of the unit. That must be why it smelled so musty when we opened the door upon check in. The linoleum in the bathroom was coming up from the floor along the entire length of the tub and the bathroom door looked as though it had been soaked in water for sometime and peeling apart. The room to the door had a lot of light that came through; so much so that a night light is not required for this room. The 'fridge did not get cold and if you wanted ice you had to go down to the first floor as the only ice machine on the second floor did not work. The carpet in the hallway and walls were filthy. We specifically asked if they had WiFi as it was mandatory/necessary that we have internet access for the morning and the connection so bad that we could not even log on. The morning dining area very dirty as well and the fruit they had out was not fit to eat, i.e. bruised old apples, bananas with so many brown spots they should have made banana bread or something with them, milk out and not chilled, breads dried out.... so we went down the road for breakfast. When I notified the counter person, who was the owner, about the bathtub, toilet & air conditioner all she could say is "Oh, really, o.k." I guess with that mentality that is why this place was so dirty and badly maintained. We will never be staying here again.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else such as Montego Bay, Days Inn, Knights Inn, etc.

“We had a great time here!”

i cant say enough about this place! Great owners/Mgmt/Staff! Friendly, helpful, accomodating, clean!
My room was prepped and ready when I checked in!
The pool is the best I've seen in a long long time! It was HUGE! and outdoors! Everyone at this hotel worked hard at maintaining the atmosphere and cleanliness.
Pizza delivery was fast too.
This hotel reminded me of the hotels on the south strip in OLD Las Vegas! And I cant say enough about the pool, except that there were no sunbrellas provided at that time. But I'm sure they were ordered or already on the way!
GREAT HOTEL AND VALUE!
There were 4 casinos/hotels in the area and I would rather have stayed here than at those casino/ hotels!
We were only a walk across the street to one of the major casinos there but we were noticed and treated like true guests at this Quality Inn! Definitely named well! QUALITY!

Room Tip: Call ahead and request microfridges and other needs.

“Room for a lot of improvement!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 May 2011

When we finally arrived in Wendover, we were pretty tired and just wanted to find somewhere to spend the night. The Quality Inn advertised a fair price and a hot complimentary breakfast on their neon sign so we decided to give it a try. It didn't look too bad from the road but we should have clued in the minute we met the front desk clerk. Not only was the check-in clerk totally unprofessional, the hotel manager (whom we met the next morning) was also in the same league. Neither looked like any hotel employees I've ever met...they were dressed in sweats and looked slovenly and disinterested. Our room looked as though it had been partially remodeled...the beds, carpeting and some of the furniture looked newer but the bathroom hadn't been touched yet and was definitely showing its age (rust, mineral deposits, mildew in the tile grout, water damage to the door and part of the ceiling etc.). We took the room because it was actually clean and, since we weren't planning to stay beyond one night, we just made due. The breakfast was another disappointment. I'm not sure what part of the breakfast was suppose to be hot but there really wasn't much to choose from and the coffee was horrible! I also noticed a big dead bug in the dining room. I couldn't tell for sure because it had been squashed but it looked like a very big cockroach...much like the kind you typically find in the desert...yuk! Once again, when it was brought to the manager's attention, he seemed disinterested and a bit bothered by the fact that I noticed it. Interesting business strategy...don't think we'll bother to stop in Wendover again for any reason.
