“Too pricey for what you get....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 June 2008

I have just left the motel 6 and felt a few details might help others. First, the entire motel scene in Vernal seemed to be synchronized to a fee of $80 - 85. The best and the worst looking motels were all in this price range. It seems a little suspicious to me since Vernal is pretty much a skid mark on the way to Dinosaur National Monument and on my trip (3000 mi and counting) I have stayed in motels that were twice as good for half the price. As far as the actual Motel 6 goes, its pretty standard, small towels, a misty water saving shower head, flourescent lights, and not much else. I will say that as far as motel 6's go this one was about average only it was twice the price. So with a little creative math.....it was a friggin ripoff for $84. The positive side, they did allow pets. The negative side was the price, the location, and the price. All said, Vernal motels all seemed to be in this fixed price range and this seemed clean and quiet. My advice would be to bypass Vernal alltogether since the quarry is closed and all there is to do is a daytrip through the park. I enjoyed echo park road but in retrospect I would just spend more time in Colorado or other parts of Utah. I think Vernal is about to be in for a big hurt in the tourism department since the main collection of bones is closed and there is a recession starting. In all, average digs for a steep price.

“Only BAD hotel/motel on our US trip! "Think twice $'s arn't everything!!"”

We decided to stay at the Motel 6, Vernal based on price only - what a mistake. Firstly, when we checked in and got our keys (2 x rooms) and went upstairs, the "houskeeping" were in the rooms, so we decided to take a walk (no probs we thought). On return and entering our room 215 the bathroom was a mess, towels were very dirty (we don't think they had been changed) and upon inspecting the beds we found hair on dirty pillows and various "unmentionables" in the sheets! The front desk did move us to 217 but we still did find dirty towels, filthy microwave and a fridge that stank of fish! We put up with this room and made a very early exit next morning! I have emailed Motel 6 to complain, we will see....! I can't see why this town / area is so expensive to stay $89+Tax for the Motel 6 and prices go up from there. My advice would be to look at other locations if you are on holiday/vaation. We have stayed in other budget hotels and motels on our trip and in comparison this one is a 1* and others have been 5* AVOID IF YOU CAN!!!! If you must visit this Motel 6 - I can say a trip to the State Liquor store on the east side of town to purchase some excellent Utah wine will ease the pain!!!

“Just a few notes for prospective guests of Vernal, UT Motel 6”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 June 2006

I live in Roosevelt, UT (30 miles west of Vernal) and I know the "history" of the Vernal Motel 6. It is a new hotel, built approx. 1999-2000. I did stay there on two different occasions in 2003 and 2004, during planned "slumber parties" for both of my daughers (we stayed in 2 adjoining rooms: daugher & friends in one, myself in the other). At that time it was a very nice hotel, clean and well kept. The indoor heated pool and hot tub were well kept, and I felt it was nicer than any Motel 6 I've ever stayed in.

The condition it may be in now, in 2006 I personally do not know. But what I do know is that this Motel 6 is in a favorable location in Vernal, close to many different eating establishments. It is also the most recently built hotel in all of Vernal.

If you are looking for an affordable place to stay, I'd give them a shot.

“Not likely to ever return.”

This hotel was horible. The room was a mess and it didn't even look like it had been cleaned before we arrived. The bed was soiled and covered with hairs. There were toe nails all over the floor. The air conditionar was loud. Don't expect to get much sleep in the summer. I would never step foot in this motel. I don't recommend it to any one else.

“Items from last guest in bath tub ....”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 June 2005

I have stayed about 50 nights in Motel 6 so far, so I do know what to expect - usually. This Motel 6 was different:
On the positive side: It had free wireless Internet access. But know the negative side:
- There were items from the last guest in the bath tub (used shampoo package, used soap bars, hairs) - This is absolutly unacceptable. It is the first time that this happened to me in any hotel - it was so disgusting. I had to clean this up before being able to use it. They had put new towels in, so it was a room after the service.
- The bulky AC is very loud
- It seems like this is a old, converted hotel from another chain, not a "drive-up" Motel 6. So it has 3(?) floors. The problem is that there were no lugguage carts normally provided in such hotels, so each item had to be carried to the room.

I will never stay again in this Motel.

Note about Vernal: it has several fast food restaurants, brand name gas stations and a WALMART Supercenter - it is a good location for an overnight stop.
