I have just left the motel 6 and felt a few details might help others. First, the entire motel scene in Vernal seemed to be synchronized to a fee of $80 - 85. The best and the worst looking motels were all in this price range. It seems a little suspicious to me since Vernal is pretty much a skid mark on the way to Dinosaur National Monument and on my trip (3000 mi and counting) I have stayed in motels that were twice as good for half the price. As far as the actual Motel 6 goes, its pretty standard, small towels, a misty water saving shower head, flourescent lights, and not much else. I will say that as far as motel 6's go this one was about average only it was twice the price. So with a little creative math.....it was a friggin ripoff for $84. The positive side, they did allow pets. The negative side was the price, the location, and the price. All said, Vernal motels all seemed to be in this fixed price range and this seemed clean and quiet. My advice would be to bypass Vernal alltogether since the quarry is closed and all there is to do is a daytrip through the park. I enjoyed echo park road but in retrospect I would just spend more time in Colorado or other parts of Utah. I think Vernal is about to be in for a big hurt in the tourism department since the main collection of bones is closed and there is a recession starting. In all, average digs for a steep price.
