We stayed in room 216 in early July 2006. The room was spacious, clean and quiet with good condition furniture and an air conditioner that worked well. The king bed was comfortable. The bathroom was clean and adequate with a few VERY small towels. The shower was good. The room had no microwave, refrigerator, or coffee maker. The continental breakfast was paltry and unappetizing (stale donuts and boxed sweet cereal). The breakfast service area, which is by the main desk in the lobby, was FILTHY and neglected. New carpet was being installed during our stay and strong “new carpet” odor was present in the room and throughout the motel. Overall, the motel was a barely acceptable basic no-frills property.
NOTE: We booked the room well in advance at a quoted AAA rate of $57 plus tax. The manager seemed to think that our rate was a great deal. I do not think so. We were in Vernal during the peak summer vacation period and there was a great deal of corporate construction work going on with lots of transient workers staying in motels in town but the motel was never full during our stay. The manager complained that other hotels were getting the construction worker corporate-paid business. He said he couldn’t understand why that was and that he was disappointed. There are several other motels in Vernal and none of them were full as evidenced by the many vacancy signs during our stay. I would not pay any more for the room than we did. ‘Nuf said.
