“Need new staff...”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 October 2008

We arrive at about 11:00 at night, there is a car blocking the entrance where you go in to register (curb-side under their over-hang), a man is talking to the occupants of the car.

I park elsewhere and go and check in and get the keys to our "non" smoking room. The car blocking their main entrance? A staff members friend or family. The guy talking to them? A member of staff (maybe the manager?). We had sat there and waited several minutes for the vehicle to move, they looked at us and it was obvious what we were waiting for. Seems odd to have your staff blocking your main entrance, doesn't it?

We get into the room and it totally stunk of smoke. It was a non-smoking room that had obviously been smoked in. A lot. It was too late to go anywhere else so we stayed. I won't do that again. I won't pay for poor service and a crappy room again. It was my fault for staying but they did not give us what they advertised, and they could teach their staff how to better serve their customers.

  • Disliked — Smoke stench in a non-smoking room.

“Midnight Wakeup Call”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 July 2008

My husband and I stop at this hotel one night just to grab a some sleep during a several day drive. The girls at the counter were so incredibly helpful and booked us a room right away (they must have been able to see how tired we were!) Everything was great when we arrived- room was clean and actually very nice for the price we payed.

Unfortunately at about 12:30 am we were woken up by yelling in the hall. When my husband went to check on it he said the manager was yelling at the front desk girl because she had brought her baby to work. She and the other front desk girl were trying to tell him that she isn't suppose to work graveyard, she was filling in last minute for someone, and there was obviously no way she could leave her three month old baby alone at her house. He didn't seem care though and continued to yell at her long enough to wake up at least the room next to ours (they came out to see what was going on too).

(The funny part was it seemed like he was mad the baby was there because if it were to start crying in the middle of the night it might wake up some of the guests- he obviously wasn't thinking about how his own actions might affect us)

While this is an inexpensive hotel and the rooms were kept nice, we probably won't stay there ever again. The situation was completely inappropriate and I can't see any reason to support a boss like that when there are other hotels right around the corner.

“The good, the bad, and the just plain creepy...”

Four members of my family (two women and two small children) spent a night at the Western Inn in Spanish Fork, UT during a long road trip. This was their experience.

THE GOOD: The young girl at the front desk was very sweet to them.

THE BAD: They were given a room, that until that night, had not been used in about a year due to renovations (also kind of creepy in itself... what happened there that kept them from using it for a year? Or do I just watch too many horror movies?). The room is on street level, seems nice enough, but then they realize that the window won't close and there is no chain lock on the door. So, they ask the front office if someone can come fix the window.

THE JUST PLAIN CREEPY: In walks a surly man, with a bad attitude. He messes with it for a second, barely even trying anything and making no improvement at all and then snarls "well, that's as good as it gets!" and then implies that they are over-reacting and being ridiculously cautious about their safety and stalks off. One of the ladies asks if he can do this & that to tighten it up so that no one can slide it open and he snaps at her "NO!". So she asks him to give her the screwdriver so she can try it herself and he completely ignores her & walks away. Leaving two women & two small children in what could potentially be an unsafe room. Oh, the icing on the cake!? If someone HAD broken into their room with the wide open window and no lock on the door... they had no working hotel room phone to call 911.

I then came to this website to write a review and came across another review where a young woman indicated that the male manager was rude, and would enter your room without any notice.

Sorry for the lengthy rant, but I think this is completely unacceptable.

“go somewhere else”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2007

one of the worst hotels I ever stayed in. If you value your privacy don't stay here. The manager enters your room when ever he wants to without any notice. I don't know about Utah Laws but in Texas they are to notify you before entering a room that is occupied. and also the manager is so rude you won't want to come back.

“What a great bed!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 July 2006

We spent the night after a long day of travel. The bed was absolutely awesomely comfortable, the best I've ever slept in at such a reasonably priced hotel. The room was sparkling clean and provided enough towels, too! There was no in room hair dryer, though. Good thing I had my own...
