“Comfortable stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

Stayed here for 2 nights because I was visiting Salt Lake City for school business. Honestly, I thought it was going to be a motel-6 or Holiday Inn caliber hotel, but I would say it was quite a surprise. They serve free breakfast in the AM, free coffee, tea, and cookies all day. The rooms were very comfortable too. It had all the amenities (coffee pot, iron, laundry service, hdtv, free wifi, etc) and rooms were clean. I would stay here again if I ever visit SLC again.

The location is off the main attraction areas. It is not really close to any of the ski resorts or downtown salt lake city (about 25mins away). But if you are staying near here, definitely recommend it.

“Loved my stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

I was here 3 nights just before Christmas and the hotel looked so festive for the season! Location is easy to find and close to great shopping and dining. Rooms are immaculately clean and well maintained. Breakfast has nice, long hours, and they offer a wide variety of food choices.

The staff here are some of the friendliest people I have ever met. Upon arrival, I was greeted with a warm welcome by the night desk agent and throughout my stay every person on duty who saw me said good morning or asked me about my stay. When it was time to leave, the morning desk agent even offered to print my boarding pass because I mentioned I was on my way to the airport--I had never experienced that before and it definitely left an impression of outstanding customer service.

I will stay at this hotel any time I am in the Salt Lake City area.

Room Tip: The hotel is located near a railway line. If you are a light sleeper you may want to turn on some g...

“UUUUUGGHHHH Bed Bugs!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 October 2011

We went down for the annual fall SnoWest snowmobile show.. this hotel was the one that offered show rates.. it was conveniently located to our venue.. after that its all down hill..

when you first arrive it seems as tho its a nice place fresh cookies and all.. our rooms were on the 5th floor.. when we arrived at our adjoining rooms we smelled a very strong musty odor..like mildew.. called down to front desk and told them.. they said recently had carpets cleaned and unfortunately all rooms smelled as such???? so we settled in cuz we had too.

At about 10pm the first freight train rolled by followed by many more.. would been wise to know the location beforehand.. in the morning i go to make in room coffee..and the lid doesnt fit the pot.. unable to brew cuz wont hit the button that lets the water out.. go down to get lobby coffee.. it looks and tastes like dishwater... tons of people are eating the breakfast, tables are dirty, waffle mix is out and bananas are so green they are inedible. Ask for a lid to fit my coffee pot ...please. front desk guy says well try to get housekeeping to it by the time u return tonight??? They are really busy this time of day??????
So now comes the GROSS part.. i go back up to the room to let my friends know coffee and breakfast are unavailable and disgusting. I go to set down on the bed an watch TV till they are ready to go... what crosses my pillow a HUGE bed bug,, filled with MY blood.. i squished it on the pillow.. skin crawling and horrified..
I have to say truthfully the bed was big and comfy the sheets appeared clean but i pulled back the mattress cover and it was INFESTED!!!!!!
i took a picture and immediately told the gal who was room keeping.. she spoke Spanish so i told her in her language.. she also appeared horrified. She asked me to tell the front desk and said she would tell her supervisor.
I go back to the front desk to the same guy who told me he couldn't fix my coffee issue.. I tried to be courteous and not say loudly what was my problem because there were lots of people around... I tell him and he says "oh yeah we had a lady complain a few days ago about bed bugs and we were unable to find anything but sand in the sheets" I tell him .."yeah well i killed one filled with my blood and i have bites and pictures.. how would you like to handle this?... in the meantime we need to leave for our function and are supposed to return in the evening.. he says he will let the GM know about it and see that my sheets are changed and the beds are steamed.. i ask does this get rid of them and he says hes unsure but its procedure..
When we return that night to speak to front desk we are told manager has left for the day but my room has been fumigated and steamed i ask to move rooms but they have NO availability...booked solid..we were offered no discount/ or even an apology just an explanation that even at the finest hotels bed bugs area problem these days and they have done what they could...
because i had no choice but to stay i went to my stinky fumigated room removed all bedding that i inspected and slept in the bathtub... needless to say i will never stay here again and I suggest you don't either.

Room Tip: Terrible..rooms look nice, smell gross and are infested .plus you hear trains every hour.

“Beware the trains”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 October 2011

We stayed for 4 nights and we loved everything about this hotel except the freight trains that pass by between 3-5 AM. I suggest you ask for a room on the opposite side of the train tracks. The bed was amazing and one of the most comfortable we have ever experienced in a hotel. The location was great for visiting downtown, the University and Red Butte Gardens as well as the Kennicott copper mines ( awesome ). Wonderful fresh baked cookies and the breakfast was good and different selections each day.

Room Tip: Ask for a room opposite the train tracks.

“This is a GREAT Country Inn!”

I'm writing this because I have also stayed in both the Lincoln NE Country Inn and this one and I want to say they are both excellent. I stay at this hotel 10 to 12 nights a year and have always been delighted. The staff is very professional and has helped me many times with business needs. The breakfast is first rate and they serve a nice happy hour snack that is a lovely touch. I think the building is about 10 years old but it is very well kept and I have never had anything to complain about.

Room Tip: They are right next to a train track so if trains passing by bothers you ask for an upper room on th...
