From the beautiful white fainting couch as you walk in this beautiful place, to the exquisite red glass dinnerware, the antique white baby grand piano, and neat old Scrabble and Monopoly games on pedestals, we enjoyed every second of our stay here! We checked in close to 7pm and then we were promptly shown to our amazing room, the Wine and Gold. It was an incredibly cozy and relaxing atmosphere, just what we were looking for to celebrate our anniversary.
Fran asked about our dinner plans and offered us discount coupons to McGrath's Fish House, but neither my husband or I like fish :) It was sweet of her to offer, and she told to come find her if we wanted a lemonade or anything else when we returned. The jetted jacuzzi tub was AMAZING and were provided plenty of clean, fluffy towels. The fireplace in the room really added to the romantic atmosphere, too.
We got to sleep in and had breakfast at 10am, which was SPECTACULAR! It almost looked too good to eat! I meant to ask for her recipe for the delicious egg, sausage, hashbrown quiche-type dish. We were offered coffee, oj, or water and were provided plenty of everything. The fresh fruit was divine, and her homemade donuts were devilishly good :) I think I had 4.....Ed came in to visit with us and is the sweetest soul ever :) We could have chatted for hours if Fran hadn't shooed him off to do the dishes :D Fran gave us a history of the house and family that came over from Denmark, and it's a beautiful history.
We were sad that we only got one night there, but it wasn't because of the price, it was the 2 baby girls waiting at the brother-in-law's :) It was very affordable, and the cheapest B&B I found! You get waaaaaaay more than we paid for! I have read the bad reviews on here, and feel so bad for the experience those people missed out on because of their bad days or what ever was bothering them. Shame on them for taking it out on such a lovely couple as this. As my husband put it, "It was just like staying over night at Grandma and Papa's!"
