“Very charming and quaint”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 July 2011

Such a fun place for a couple get-away. Our room was the Blue Lagoon room and the round bed was such a neat feature. Our host was very sweet and had done a lovely job decorating the Bed and Breakfast into a charming old museum-like mansion. The doors didn't have locks and there is no elevator--steep old stairs to climb. The jetted tub and fireplace were very nice. Our host kept wanting to visit and socialize, which was charming but we really just wanted a vacation to ourselves. Breakfast was delicious and long--hard to pull away from the host who wanted to chat all morning abt the history of the home. Overall we enjoyed the lovely surroundings and have fond memories.

Room Tip: Best room is the Blue Lagoon room!

“Historically interesting, very quiet”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 June 2011

Elderly couple on a short visit, we enjoyed this old house in a quiet setting near a brook, several miles south of Salt Lake City. The hostess was welcoming, the period furnishings were beautiful, and the breakfast was good. In the small "Victorian Room" where we were, the bed has several mattresses and is very high; we literally had to jump to get on and off, and any movement caused significant oscillations. When I got up during the night, my wife thought (for a few moments) that we were experiencing an earthquake! If you stay here, we suggest checking the mattress in your room. No other problems.

Room Tip: Check the mattress (see above)!

“Most DEFINITELY would stay here again! :)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 May 2011

From the beautiful white fainting couch as you walk in this beautiful place, to the exquisite red glass dinnerware, the antique white baby grand piano, and neat old Scrabble and Monopoly games on pedestals, we enjoyed every second of our stay here! We checked in close to 7pm and then we were promptly shown to our amazing room, the Wine and Gold. It was an incredibly cozy and relaxing atmosphere, just what we were looking for to celebrate our anniversary.
Fran asked about our dinner plans and offered us discount coupons to McGrath's Fish House, but neither my husband or I like fish :) It was sweet of her to offer, and she told to come find her if we wanted a lemonade or anything else when we returned. The jetted jacuzzi tub was AMAZING and were provided plenty of clean, fluffy towels. The fireplace in the room really added to the romantic atmosphere, too.
We got to sleep in and had breakfast at 10am, which was SPECTACULAR! It almost looked too good to eat! I meant to ask for her recipe for the delicious egg, sausage, hashbrown quiche-type dish. We were offered coffee, oj, or water and were provided plenty of everything. The fresh fruit was divine, and her homemade donuts were devilishly good :) I think I had 4.....Ed came in to visit with us and is the sweetest soul ever :) We could have chatted for hours if Fran hadn't shooed him off to do the dishes :D Fran gave us a history of the house and family that came over from Denmark, and it's a beautiful history.
We were sad that we only got one night there, but it wasn't because of the price, it was the 2 baby girls waiting at the brother-in-law's :) It was very affordable, and the cheapest B&B I found! You get waaaaaaay more than we paid for! I have read the bad reviews on here, and feel so bad for the experience those people missed out on because of their bad days or what ever was bothering them. Shame on them for taking it out on such a lovely couple as this. As my husband put it, "It was just like staying over night at Grandma and Papa's!"

“Best B&B ever”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 May 2011

I just got back from a stay at the 1887 Hansen House with my wife for our 5th anniversary. We had a wonderful time there. We stayed in the Wine and Gold room, which was extremely beautiful and comfortable. The jet tube was great. Ed and Fran were a blast to visit with. After our fabulous breakfast, we munched on hand made donuts while Fran related the amazing history of that incredible house. I highly recommend staying here.

“Ski vacation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 May 2011

My brothers and I rented the cottage for our ski vacation. The cottage was cozy and a great relaxation after a long day sking. Fran and Ed are lovely and friendly people who made us feel at home. Fran made us a delicious homemade breakfast daily and graciously accommodated our early AM ski schedule. We will be returning again next year.
