We stayed in the Cherry Room for three days in September and chose this B&B because price was more economical than staying at the Zion Lodge or in Springdale. Our room was large, comfortable and clean. The B&B is located on the main street in town and can get noisy. Our room was at the back, so this was not so much an issue. The decor was a little tired (old carpet, etc.), but if I were just rating the room, I would give it four stars. The two star rating is because we felt they were pinching pennies continually to make up for the price difference. We were greeted by Nida and requested to pay immediately. We never met her husband except at breakfast the second day. He did not introduce himself or even talk to anyone at the table; he only served breakfast. The water for showers was never quite hot enough. Coffee and tea were not available except at breakfast, which was at 8:00 a.m. I am an early riser and had to drive into town for coffee every morning. At breakfast (which is served PROMPTLY at 8:00--we came downstairs one day about five minutes after eight and our plates were sitting on the table), coffee is not set out. Nida pours it herself and takes it away. If you want cream, she pours it into your cup and then takes it away. Breakfast was okay--not bad but not remarkable either. On our second day my husband asked for a glass of milk, and Nida launched into a tirade about how milk was bad for you and no one drinks milk. Our last day we had to be on the road early, so needless to say there was no coffee, tea or anything. Nida offered to leave out some granola bars because "people who were here three days ago took the bagels." At night, the house was dark, dark, dark. No lights or lamps were on inside. There are two flights of stairs leading to the bedrooms and it is downright scary trying to feel your way around for hall lights to see. There really was no commom room for guests (the hosts were watching some Russian television show one night in the living room) and the furniture on the porch looked old and dirty. You really would not want to sit down and relax on the porch. We felt Nida was a little argumentative. If you said you ate dinner one place, she would say "why did you eat there? They are no good. You should have eaten here." Posted on the front door is a sign staying "do not ask us for directions to Grafton" (a ghost town in the area). What exactly is the problem there? If I had it to do over again, I would chose another place to stay.
