Arrived in Richfield late at night, decided on a cheap stay with Budget Host Nights Inn. Big mistake! I don't mind a cheap, Motel 6-like place, especially for just one night, but this place was disgusting. The wall plate for the outlet was dangling out of the wall, I think a couple of the lights didn't work, there were stains all over, and worst of all, it looked like there were splashes of puke around the toilet rim. Nice cleaning job! Plus, as I was lugging my bags upstairs (from the last parking spot in their cramped lot), there were a couple of teenaged/young 20-something guys outside who seemed a bit sketchy--made me nervous about my car.

It was so bad that after arriving very late at night, exhausted, and lugging all of my stuff up to the room, I decided to leave. I went and got my money back and went to the Quality Inn, which is now one of my favorite hotels--it's wonderful!

I will say at least the lady at the front desk of the BH Nights Inn was nice about giving me my money back. She offered to change my room, but I declined. (Why would the maids do a better job cleaning one room than another? Ew.)

Big mistake! This motel had a 3 star rating from AAA in 2005 (I had an old tour book when booking the room), but now down to 2 stars in the latest book. I think either the AAA reviewer was on the take, or owes the motel owner big time. This is not even close to a 2 star facility and I can't imagine it was ever a 3 star. I'm stunned it's even on AAA's list. We found the same conditions the previous reviewer found: No way this room was remodeled in 2006 - more like 1970, although the sink did have a new faucet - maybe that was the "remodel." The carpet had dark stains everywhere (see attached picture, which doesn't do it justice). In fact, the entire room was dirty. The bathroom was scary (see picture). The sheets were gray. The "towels" were threadbare and tiny (the hand towels measured 8x13 inches - I thought they were washcloths, until I saw the washcloths...). The walls and molding were beaten up (see pic). The pictures and dirty mirror were hanging crooked on the walls. There was no remote for the TV - not even sure it worked (see picture of dangling wires). The alarm clock was broken. Oddly enough, the bed wasn't too bad. Generic Fruit Loops, warm skim milk and week-old English muffins for breakfast (I didn't dare try the orange colored stuff). Skid row all the way - stay well away.

This is an on-site review -- my husband is on the road, in the room at this very moment, talking with me on his cellphone. Here's what he reports:

First of all, the good: Service was cordial at 1:30 a.m. arrival. The receptionist kindly handed me a large bottle of Lysol to take with me to the room -- with no comment at all!!!

Though rooms were reported to have been redecorated last year:
The carpet is nasty and stained (you'd think it had been a crime scene at some point), and it sticks to bottom of my feet.
Sheets looked like they hadn't been changed since last guest. Goobers and black hairs were on the pillows. Linens are so threadbare you can see through them -- sheets were like cheesecloth. Got in so late, though, that was forced to use my bathtowel to cover the sheet and handtowel to cover the pillow instead of asking to change rooms.
Towels are so tiny that no average person could hope to dry off completely with them.
Don't think the showers have been scrubbed in years -- moldy and slimy.
Blotch of mystery fluid on the wall.
Continental breakfast was open loaf of bread, a toaster, and a plastic container of orange liquid. No pastry, muffin, or fruit.
We respectfully refuse to take the complimentary Budget Hotel Travel Directory for planning future trips.

I was extremely pleased with the accommodations. The rooms have all been remodeled within the past 6 months. The rate was perfect ($40). In fact, the motel was sold out. The property was well maintained, clean and safe. The majority of guests were travelers, like myself, just passing through. However, there were a number of large commercial vehicles in the parking lot. Truck drivers know where to stay.

Everyone was in their room by 10 pm and the place was quiet. The truckers departed about 5 am. This motel definitely would NOT attract party people or noisy folks.

Looking for a quiet night of restful sleep in a clean and pleasant environment at a reasonable price? THIS IS THE PLACE.

P.S. Don't eat at JB's (about 4 blocks down the street). The food was terrible, even for a Denny's-like restaurant.
