We stayed in site 30, along the outer loop and loved it -- lots of shade trees, close to hiking along the rock formations, and fairly private. The inside sites on the other side of the road do back to a little stream, but it is tiny and the sites seemed a little claustrophic with a lot of bushes and closeness that blocked the views of the surrounding area. Loved Site 30. In the morning, we stopped by the Fremont Indian State Park visitor center and walked the trails around, looking at the rock art -- amazing. Very nice exhibit area inside, too. All in all, a great, comfortable place to stay; the best of our trip.
Also, on the map, it looks like this place is right off the expressway, and it sort of is, but is set back about 1.5 miles. The way it is situated with the towering rock walls surrounding you, it is very private and you'd never hear any traffic sounds or even know you were near a highway. We were a little concerned driving up, but it's gorgeous back there.
