“Not for the business traveler”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 February 2011

I stayed here while attending a conference and other than location it was inconvenient for a business traveler. Limited services. I had to checkout in the morning, there was no one to assist with luggage, I had to drag my luggage through the snow from the furthest building - as it had snowed the walk ways were poorly accessible. Once getting to the main building, I had to wait for the front desk person to arrive to check out and store my luggage - the lobby didn't open until 8 am.
The room was fine, if you are relatively self-sufficient not needing service or amenities, you might enjoy your stay.

“Pleasantly surpised!”

I was a little worried making reservations, primarily because reviews were so-so and photos were mediocre at best. I must admit, my friend and I were very happy with our choice. Beds were comfy and rooms were not noisy at all (we requested 2nd floor). Upon check-in the desk person was kind enough to give keys to two different units in order to choose which one we liked best...who does that anymore? We had a room with two queens and a full kitchen (full sized fridge, microwave and full sized range). The decor was rustic, with warm earth tones. Unit included mini coffee maker with coffee, nice flatware, dishes and glassware (no cootie factor whatsoever). The bathroom included blow-dryer, and toiletry items. Shower curtain was clean, with no mildew in tub. Our unit had a flat screen tv and a little electric counter-top fireplace on dresser that we never used. There is also a free bus to Park City ski resort, and main street. The bus stop is right in front of lobby. I would definitely stay again.

“Cozy, warm, quiet room. Plenty of space for 2 people, with a full kitchen!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2011

My friend and I stayed at the Prospector while we were in town for the Sundance Film Festival. The room exceeded our expectations. Although they had a 5-night minimum stay, we still spent less on the room overall than we would have at one of the other popular Sundance hotels. The Prospector has it's own shuttle stop (2 actually), and an on-site screening theater. Some minor details: The hotel is broken up into separate buildings, so you have to bundle up to go down to the lobby/front desk. There are no elevators, but this is not such a big deal because all the buildings are only 2stories high. There is no room service, but we were kindly, and unexpectedly, upgraded (at no charge) to a room with a full kitchen---which is a more economical choice for a 5-night stay anyway.

“Each unit has its own personality - I've been lucky 2 years in a row!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 July 2010

I am returning to Prospector Square for the 2nd time - both times for a 3-week conference in July.

All the units I have seen are nicely furnished, and the location is great. You can walk outside and hop on the free city bus and get anywhere easily.

My only complaint is that there are some families living in the place, and they tend to be noisey. I bought some earplugs to solve the problem.

The White Mountain Health Club is fabulous - they sold us a 3-week membership for $90 including taxes.

The Deer Valley concerts are wonderful--classical, jazz and rock.

“This time unit 408 via All Seasons”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 February 2010

After 4 years we returned to Prospector Square, but tried our luck with All Seasons Mgt for their buy one/get one free night prepaid offer, making cost of slightly larger studio with full kitchen less than $100 per night.

Check in was at Carriage House and more helpful than previous experience at Prospector. Room was ready, so allowed very early check in. No problems to contact desk during stay. Used key drop for early checkout. Trash was collected from unit and bed tidied.

Unit 408 on first floor had OK bathroom (toilet behind door), same sensitive hot water control in shower, no towel racks by vanity/sink in separate area. Kitchen worked fine, but no potholder, no baking dish or tray. Refrigerator cycled on/off all night. Carpet was worn but tile relatively new. Two comfortable beds, flat screen TV, this time bar chairs and tall table. Again no comfortable chairs to sit in, read, put on shoes, etc. Noisy heat cycled on/off all night. Drapes didn't fit window, but we managed. No sheers so either totally open or totally dark. 40-watt bulbs, so reading almost impossible.

Plumbing is so noisy it sounded like running water inside our bedroom when neighbors using their water.

So, OK for cheap place to sleep while skiing, but don't plan to spend any extra time in the room and don't expect a 4 or 5-star experience. Slightly larger/full kitchen not much more than the basic studio we rented before.
