After reading several reviews on this site, we determined that the Bryce Way Motel would probably suffice for a nights sleep. Arriving late, we planned to go to bed and leave early. No need for extras. My brother-in-law had arrived a little earlier, and put his small children to bed. Upon our arrival, he and his wife came to our room to make plans for the following day. Since it was the middle of October, temperatures had dropped and it was a bit chilly. As I walked towards the heater, I noticed a big sign - OUT OF ORDER - PLEASE USE SPACE HEATER. Sitting on the floor was a small space heater. We all had a good laugh, and commented that we hoped it didn't get any colder.
About this time the bulb in the lamp started to go on and off, and again we all had some funny comments. The room was in need of paint and a good cleaning, but hey, one night what the heck. My wife always wears her sandals / slippers in hotels, and I am not usually too concerned about the carpeting, but this carpet had not been cleaned in who knows how long. My sandals stayed on until I got in bed.
Here's the good part. When we turned our bed down, my daughter started to count the hairs on the sheets. We had two beds, and both beds had numerous hairs. I walked over to the office to complain, but the door was locked. When I returned to the room, my daughter took her mothers camera and started taking pictures so we could show them in the morning. OF COURSE, we hand plucked each and every hair from our bed before getting in.
In the morning, I walked over to complain (7:30 AM), and the door was still locked. About 8:00 AM, I found the manager outside, and told her our concerns. I didn't expect a full refund, but something? She said, "Four of you, and only pay $ 55.00. No can do anything." Yeah, she was a little Asian lady who owned the place. She said, "I clean room myself." I said, "Maybe you did, but we had a bed full of hair. I wasn't going to argue with her.
On the way back to our room, I stopped to peak at my brother-in-laws room. I must say it was much different. Not perfect, but a far cry better than ours. So, my conclusion is this:
If you are feeling lucky, book a room at the Bryceway Motel. You may win - you may lose, but for $ 55.00 per night you can't complain if you have a bed full of hair(s). Well, you can, but it doesn't do any good. Better hair than bed bugs, and we checked for those too!
