“A bargain for Bryce, no frills but nice”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 August 2011

Stayed at Bryce Way Motel in July 2011, it is a very pleasant property at a price that was excellent on the pocketbook. We went to the Bryce Way in Panguitch while visiting Bryce National Park. The motel, located approximately 20-miles from the park looked like it did in the pictures posted on the web. I called and made reservations and the price was $10-20 less than the prices on internet sites. The property is individually owned and the managers also take care of the housekeeping. The ice machine appears to be permanently broken, but they have a deep-freeze full of ice and are constantly prepared. The beds are a bit firm, but were fine to sleep on especially after a tiring day at Bryce. We would stay again for the price and were very satisfied with the service.

Room Tip: Ask for a microwave and fridge ahead of time when reserving.

“never stay there”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 July 2011

On our vacation we reserved our hotels through Expedia; every one was good except this one.
The price for 2 adults and 1 child (18 years old ) in The confirmation e-mail letter from Expedia, is $65 plus tax. When we showed the confirmation letter during check in, the owner of the motel ignored it and insisted on adding $5 ( $65+$5 + tax), $5 is not much. But this is not right way to do business. We told the motel owner we will complain this to Expedia.

After coming back from vacation, I called Expedia but the owner lied to Expedia, she said we were 4 persons at check in. Then when i called the owner, she said when Expedia called her she was talking about 4 other people, not us. Any way this is the place we never want to stay there anymore. Besides the quality and service were not good.

“Bring your own towels!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2010

We were looking for somewhere to stay in the Bryce canyon area and everything was either fully booked or too expensive except this place. I saw the picture and thought no way! But the reviews on here were quite positive so we gave it a go.

However I urge you to ignore them all! unless you are really hard up it is just not worth staying here. Yes the place is old, but that shouldn't mean it can't be clean, and this place was FILTHY! Also the place was covered in hairs and there were marks and stains everywhere. Everything was falling apart. The lights were held together with sellotape! We were supposed to have a microwave and fridge in our room and didn't. But the worst thing was the towels. They were unbelievably old and threadbare, maybe as old as the motel! But it gets worse - I pulled one off the rack and it completely covered in black marks! (see photo)

Just don't stay here unless you really, really have to!

“Blast from the Past....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 October 2010

We made reservations at this hotel on Travelocity after reviewing Tripadvisor. We were quite shocked when we arrived. It was the type of hotel that I grew up staying in during the 60's and 70's. It looked like a route 66 hotel. We had already paid so we checked in. We were actually pleasantly surprised, it was a large room and was very clean. The furniture was inexpensive and the towels didn't match and were well used, but it was clean and functional. We stayed 2 days. The ice machine didn't work, but the front desk had installed a freezer with many trays of ice and you could take what you needed. In this part of the state, there aren't many options. We looked at the other hotels in town and they were pretty much all the same. It wasn't fancy, but it met our needs.

“Could Be Good - Could Be Gross”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 October 2010

After reading several reviews on this site, we determined that the Bryce Way Motel would probably suffice for a nights sleep. Arriving late, we planned to go to bed and leave early. No need for extras. My brother-in-law had arrived a little earlier, and put his small children to bed. Upon our arrival, he and his wife came to our room to make plans for the following day. Since it was the middle of October, temperatures had dropped and it was a bit chilly. As I walked towards the heater, I noticed a big sign - OUT OF ORDER - PLEASE USE SPACE HEATER. Sitting on the floor was a small space heater. We all had a good laugh, and commented that we hoped it didn't get any colder.

About this time the bulb in the lamp started to go on and off, and again we all had some funny comments. The room was in need of paint and a good cleaning, but hey, one night what the heck. My wife always wears her sandals / slippers in hotels, and I am not usually too concerned about the carpeting, but this carpet had not been cleaned in who knows how long. My sandals stayed on until I got in bed.

Here's the good part. When we turned our bed down, my daughter started to count the hairs on the sheets. We had two beds, and both beds had numerous hairs. I walked over to the office to complain, but the door was locked. When I returned to the room, my daughter took her mothers camera and started taking pictures so we could show them in the morning. OF COURSE, we hand plucked each and every hair from our bed before getting in.

In the morning, I walked over to complain (7:30 AM), and the door was still locked. About 8:00 AM, I found the manager outside, and told her our concerns. I didn't expect a full refund, but something? She said, "Four of you, and only pay $ 55.00. No can do anything." Yeah, she was a little Asian lady who owned the place. She said, "I clean room myself." I said, "Maybe you did, but we had a bed full of hair. I wasn't going to argue with her.

On the way back to our room, I stopped to peak at my brother-in-laws room. I must say it was much different. Not perfect, but a far cry better than ours. So, my conclusion is this:
If you are feeling lucky, book a room at the Bryceway Motel. You may win - you may lose, but for $ 55.00 per night you can't complain if you have a bed full of hair(s). Well, you can, but it doesn't do any good. Better hair than bed bugs, and we checked for those too!
