We just needed an inexpensive place to stay the night before the Ogden marathon, and this seemed as good a candidate as any. The location is good, in that it is right downtown. That was the only plus to this place, though.
Well unfortunately, it was a total dive. What do you expect when you go cheap? But really. That doesn't mean it should have a filthy toilet, barking dogs, people stomping around all hours of the night, and smell strongly of cigarette smoke. Yes, it was a "non-smoking" room, but it was in the same hall as smoking rooms. The smoke was strong enough that the stuff I packed in my suitcase, which stayed unused in my suitcase all night, still smelled like ciggies when I got home.
There were also some shady people that I ran into the hall that... well, let's just say I strongly suspect one woman was employed in the oldest profession, as they call it. This does just seem like the sort of cheap place people would use for such activity.
My infant son (who has never before had a problem sleeping away from home) found this place very upsetting (probably mostly the noise and the smell). He wouldn't sleep in the playpen we brought, so he had to get into bed with us. He thrashed around and didn't sleep well at all, hence my husband only got about an hour of sleep, which is not the way to start off a marathon! Luckily the sleep deprivation didn't seem to affect his running time, but we will DEFINITELY not be going back to this place again!
AVOID this place!
