Don't book this motel if you are travelling in winter months! We were in a room where the heat barely put out, and almost froze! Manager refused to allow us to change rooms.
Also, bed was marginal in comfort.

My wife and I arrived late after a long day of driving. Wanting nothing more than a shower and to climb into bed I found the shower did not work. We contacted the front desk and they said we could switch rooms, an inconvenience but no big deal. When I went to pick up the new room key I was told we could not switch rooms but would be forced to wait while the owner came to repair the shower. I found out later that the shower issue was a known problem and they put us in a room without checking to see if it worked first. We wait for 20 minutes just for him to show up. Another 15-20 while he replaces the shower head. When asked if he would comp us a breakfast for the inconvenience he immediately turned angry and said we were getting a great room at a great price and how dare we ask for anything more. He then left to go back to the office. I have never had a service experience like this ever. If he had just apologized and said he was unable to meet our request I would have understood. But his belligerence caused me to follow him back to the office. After requesting that he just refund my card and we would stay somewhere else he refused. We had been in the room less than 1 hour and 35-45 minutes was dealing with a broken shower and an angry owner. After refusing my request he then told me to get out of the hotel office and back to my room and if I did not comply he would have me arrested for trespassing. My wife was witness to most of the conversation and was uncomfortable staying the night even if we didn't get our money back. We turned in our key and left. I did dispute the charge with my credit card company and did get the charge reversed. In fact, one of the mediators called the owner to verify the story and got yelled at as well. The Bates Motel would be a better choice than this place.

This privately owned motel lies close to Zion at Mt. Carmel Junction. You take the scenic route 9 that goes through a beautiful part of the park to reach the motel. The rooms are roomy and nicely decorated - not the standard motel-look, but more cozy with flowers and some paintings, and they are clean and quiet. The price is cheap considering the location to Zion, however breakfast is not included. There is a restaurant just beside the motel though, which serves breakfast (although we did not eat breakfast there, only dinner which was ok). There is also a swimming pool on site, which looked nice.

Not the Marriott, but not a Marriot price either. Basic clean comfortable rooms with fridge and microwave, comfortable beds, nearby restaurants. Staff was friendly and helpful. We were visiting Bryce, Zion, and Grand Canyon (North Rim). This is a perefect base for these and more.
Down side: thin walls - we had noisy neighbors one night out of four. No alcohol at their restaurant but wine and beer at the restaurant across the street. Golden Hills breakfasts were great.
