“Richie Rich from Detroit makes our stay very memorable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 December 2010

After having traveled 20 straight hours, Monticello was a sight for sore eyes and the Wayside Inn provided us with a reasonably priced stay and service that made us want to recommend it to anyone going through that part of Utah! Rich was the manager the night/morning we were there, and he was awesome. He went and got us bags of ice since the machine wasn't working correctly, he fixed the orange juice machine, and most importantly he made us laugh. Rich told us not to ask people around town for oil because everyone carried guns, so he sent us to a place he knew would give us a quart of oil without trying to rip us off. He also told us hilarious stories about poking rattlesnakes with sticks and how he ended up in rural Utah from Detroit, Michigan. Most importantly to us he absolutely loved Utah and made us appreciate the state as well! We have fond memories of our stay at the hotel because of his friendliness and determination to make our trip memorable.

“Deceitful Hotel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 August 2010

We stayed there for 2 nights and was charged double. The price is not what it says in trip advisor. The desk attendant is unfriendly. The rooms look and smells clean but when you see underneath the covers are really dirty. There was hair everywhere. The bathtub has a lot of mildew. There were stains in the toilet. It is not worth to pay anything for it. They should have priced it $30 for their rooms. We always pass by Monticello every summer but next year would be a different hotel. I shoud have known. I should have believed the reviews here. It is not worth staying here.

“Bad Business”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 July 2010

The double charged us for our stay. A warning to anyone using a web service too book your hotel. Don't fall for the "when you pay online it just holds your room, then we charge your card when you get here." Not only did they double charge us but they charged us more than Travelocity did. Now they are pulling out every hoop they can find for us to get a refund.

“Not a place I would stay again”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 December 2009

Overall, I think the service was unwelcoming. I checked in at around midnight. The person at the desk couldn't find my reservation for about five minutes - finally tracked it down. While standing there waiting I noticed several admonishing signs like "Absolutely no bicycles in the rooms" and "Be sure to not leave valuables in your car". In the room, there were more signs saying things like "You will be responsible for replacement costs for stains on towels that cannot be removed". Makes it sound like the people that stay there are kind of inconsiderate, though I'd think the hotel could find a better way to deal with the problem. The room itself was ok though the parking wasn't near to it, and the parking area wasn't lighted. When I went to check out there was a sign on the counter saying "Please wait here. We'll be right back". I waited for several minutes with another guest and nobody showed - this at around 10a. I left my key on the counter and drove away.

“Avoid this hotel”

On our 7,000 mile road trip we stayed in a different hotel each night. The majority of them were in Best Western hotels which were for the most part excellent. Unforturnately, this hotel did not deserve the Best Western name. It was by far the worst hotel we stayed in on our trip. It had an inoperable room telephone. It had an unreliable internet connection. The complimentary breakfast was a disaster. In the breakfast room, there was no running water or water of any kind, no napkins and no hotel staff available. The floors were dirty and the area was poorly lighted. I don't know how it could pass a health inspection. I could go on, but of all our stays this was the second most expensive and not worth it.
