“A cruel Priceline prank..."2 stars". Yea..right!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 July 2011

I am a veteran of the road and tend to give places a break when I can. When the management of a facility really tries to do it right, even if the odds are against them, I cut them slack. This is not one of those times.

The place stinks and is horribly under-maintained. The carpets, both in the hallways and in the rooms, reek of rotted spills and other filth. There appears to be no systematic vacuuming of the hallways or common areas and there's small debris everywhere. It's a slummy place that defies the upper middle class area where it's situated.

Early on, I liked these extended-stay places. Because the rooms get so little attention, and the staffing so lean, the little stuff gets ignored. Dirt and grime accumulate with the longer stays and housekeeping can't keep up. I wish Priceline would allow me to opt out of these places. Unless you get smacked by Priceline or Hotwire, don't stay here.

Oh...as previously stated, the beds are rock hard. I was able to sleep okay, but many people wouldn't be able to. The AC unit is very loud, adding to the challenge of getting a good sleep.

Room Tip: If you have to stay, get an east facing room.

“Beds are horrible”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 September 2010

They need to replace beds if they expect people to come back. The place looks nice on the outside and inside halls were acceptable but the bed was really really bad. They could of put more things in the kitchen, like make sure there were eough spoons for 2 people, etc. Staff was very helpful. I'ts nice that they have laundry facitities open 24 hrs. If you plan to check out early in the morning, staff does not come on until 7 so make arrangements the night before. This could be a nice hotel chain but they need to do some improving..would not recommend anyone stay there until corporate changes it's beds. don't yell at the staff..that's not their fault..

“Only thing good about hotel is location, nothing else”

We had two rooms. Neither was clean. We opened sofa bed, and linens were filthy. Emergency stair exit door got stuck shut many times and had to be kicked hard to open. Staff said "parts on order".. Smoke alarms were malfunctioning and went off twice while we were there. Once in our room for no reason, and once in another guests room...which got flooded by the sprinklers. Fire dept. showed. Next day, I asked staff if there was a problem with the smoke detectors and they denied there was anything wrong. "What problem"

“You get what you pay for...”

You get what you pay for...so be careful. I always thought that Motel 6 was pretty scuzzy, and then I stayed at the Extended Stay America, which is surprisingly scuzzier than your standard Motel 6. The beds were rock hard. The pillows were flat, only 2 per bed, and the hotel staff refused to give you extra pillows claiming that they didn't have any extras. The towels, toilet paper, kleenex, and linens were like sandpaper. The rooms were dirty. The walls are paper thin, so I was able to enjoy the person next to me snoring all night long. To top it all off, as we were checking out, there were 5 people dragging hoards of laundry out of their car into the hotel to use the hotel's laundry facilites. These were not guests, so I suspect that they were friends of the non-english speaking person running the front counter. This place is great for the poor, broke people who need a roof over their head. However, if you're just being cheap, it would be better to spend $10 a night more and get just a little more bang for your buck. I will never stay here again.

“Met my needs and worth the value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 February 2010

I found this place through a priceline bid. The hotel staff was friendly, I had free wireless. Room was clean as was the hallways. There is a variety of cooking smells in the evening as the rooms have microwaves and cooktops but it is an extended stay. The room had a 32" flat screen television with Show Time. It is across from Iggy's which had good service and food and across from the Cinema 16 movie theater.

This is a decent hotel which I would stay at again if I was in Salt Lake for business or pleasure.
