“Room OK, if a bit small and basic”

Good location for Monument Valley. Being mid-November, this was the only hotel open in Mexican Hat. It's a motel, was mainly catering to visiting workers so it's not a fancy dude place. Rooms basic, no drinks facilities, hairdrier or toiletries. The nearby ice machine was switched off so supply pipe wouldn't freeze. Got ice from the cafe to chill our beers, without any problem.

Food good and freshly prepared, but was surprised that the burritto was dripping wet with green chili sauce. However it was a Navajo dish and the restaurant is run by Navajo, so I guess they know what they're doing. Wet or dry, it was delicious.

Room only, so had to buy breakfast, about $25 for the two of us with beverages (not all drinks had free refills). Need to take all this into account when comparing prices of establishments.

“Best Place in Town, the only place in town.”

Great spot, all room overlook the San Juan River. At first the gal at the check in counter didn't want to stop watching tv to help us but once we got her attention she was fine. The rooms were very nice, clean and comfortable. There were a couple of attractive sitting areas at the edge of the cliff overlooking the river, nice place to share a glass of wine or a cup of morning coffee.
The only restaurant open in town was at the Inn and while nothing fancy it had a certain charm and the food was good. The town is only about a quarter mile long, a couple of buildings, that's it but a close location to Monument Valley.

“Nice motel on the river.”

I a bit more expensive than the bigger city, but there open year round in the middle of no where.

Wifi was lagguy and the ac/heater don't have a continuous fan option so it make a steady noise during the night.

Bed ware more than comfy.
Not to noisy, but you could hear the people passing in front the door.

Ask to see different rooms there some that are more spacious than others.

“Great location, average accommodation.”

We stayed here for one night in September 2011. The guy at check-in offered to trade the room cost for my Swatch watch and I wish I'd taken him up on that !

The room and shower room were just about OK for size and cleanliness but the lighting in the bedroom was very low. I was sitting at the tiny desk and noticed something moving by my feet so stamped on it. It was a scorpion about 2" long (without tail). Reception the next morning were very laid back about this and said it was quite common. As a non-native I don't know how normal/bad it is for this location but we certainly made sure we shook all the bedding out and checked our shoes before putting them on, kept cases closed etc.

We'd probably stay somewhere else if we are in the area again. I've written a seperate review on the restaurant.

Room Tip: Upstairs rooms have a better view and are less noisy.

“Great location!”

I stayed here in late October and most of the rooms were full. My room was on the 2nd floor overlooking the river. It was simple- but I don't need fancy. The whole premises had some charm to it.
Overall, I thought the the place was great! They had tables and chairs set up next to the cliff, and it looks like they're in the process of building a lounge area on one of the 3 buildings.
There was no breakfast included, but an onsite restaurant that served breakfast, lunch and dinner.
I did not spend any time here, but could see staying here for several nights while exploring the area.

Room Tip: Top floor has better views!
